I was getting ready to make a cap kit order, and my wife says to me..."Hey why don't you ask the SMAC group if they want to get in on the order." (Seattle Metro Arcade Collectors) I thought it sounded like a pretty good idea, so I put it out to the group and placed the order.

Looking closely at the order I noticed that we have collectively ordered 167 Cap Kits for different various monitors that we all have.

What is your largest Cap Kit order?

i have never ordered a cap kit just bulk caps i think i spent $160ish in a weeks time and the bulk was gone pretty quick.
i think i dropped another $70 a month ago and i forgot to get 470uf and 330uf caps dammit

Nope, not a bulk cap buy. These were all kits. Of course we will be having a kit / baggie stuffing party to make them. But they will all be kits when all is said and done.

The bulk cap buy is coming later this summer.

its a great idea, i just cant stand not having parts on hand when i need em. and it comes in handy (bulk) when you have to fix a power supply or audio board. i carry basic cap lists in my toolbox but i change every cap on the board if i have em. im too lazy to fix shit twice if i can help it

Rework is the result of laziness. Fixing it right the first time is the stand up thing to do.

I have been building up my stash of parts slowly, but everytime I think I am making progress I am out of something else.

i hear you on that i buy a flyback hot regulator resistors everytime i order anything just to have it when i need it. im so tired of pulling a "working" game away from a row to fix something that should have been done when i got it

Almost kits, but not really...I purchased over 70 lbs of caps a while back, specifically to make up kits. They came in a big, heavy box, about 3'x3'x3'.

i am confused.. you posted that you got a bulk buy on cap kits, yet you still need to have a kit/baggie-stuffing party to make them?

how is this different than a bulk buy of loose caps?

Because he got the list of cap kits people needed, then ordered the caps specifically needed to create those kits, then they are going to bag them. In other words, the whole purpose was to save people money on their cap kits and theoretically there wouldn't be any left over caps after the kits are made.
