What is this part in a DC power supply?

This is the interior of an Electro Products Labs un-regulated DC power supply, probably from the 1940s.

What are these square pieces attached to the interior of the case? Total of 4, wired in serial after the transformer.

I believe they're a 4-plate selenium bridge rectifier, just installed in a way I haven't seen before. Looking for confirmation or disabuse.

Yes, Selenium rectifiers. Which when they die let off toxic fumes, so yes, get them replaced ASAP.
