Hi Guys,

I'm doing a cap replacement on an old B&W monitor chassis and there are 3 identical components on the neck tube. I have a fair amount of experience with electronics but have never come across a component like the one in the attached picture.
Can anyone help?
It looks a bit like a fuse. The markings on it are 750v 67N

Many thanks,
Andy

It's a neon spark gap.

They're meant to flash over if the voltage is too high somewhere. Maybe the three guns in the neck are the protected components. They trigger at a certain voltage and keep the guns in the tube from arcing to one another.

They wouldn't light up except in a fault condition.

That's my 2 cents

Thanks kstillin, I just read wiki about them and seems you're spot on.

Not too sure where I can buy replacements these days, I can't seem to find anything similar on online electronic stores, I see you can get modified ceramic caps that do the same task, but obviously don't have the same external indicator of lighting up.

Thanks again,
Andy

Yeah, its just a neon light, like old style night lights. My Asteroids deflection board has three of them, side by side. I've never seen one on though, guess that's a good thing!

Found one of these on my Frogger's flourecent light next to the ballast. Didn't know what it was either.

That's a starter... similar looking, but not the same thing.
