Hi guys, I make video games for a living, but I'm new to arcade machines. My warlords cocktail recently lost it's horizontal hold, so I ordered a cap kit from Bob Roberts and took the monitor apart. Unfortunately, the actual board doesn't look much like the one in the only 14" Sanyo monitor manual I've found online.

(this one: http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-monitors/sanyo-14atari.pdf)

It looks like this:

Does anyone know what this model is called? I'd love to find a manual for that model, since the other one is so nice.

I've now ordered a cap kit for a Sanyo 20EZ, since it looks more like what I have than the other kit, and then I figure I can go cap by cap and find replacements that will work. Looking at the schematics, I think caps in the 400 range are the most likely culprits.

Any other tips? I love the idea of fixing this old board, but it's different design is a curve-ball.

re-flow all the large resisters, transistors, flyback, neck socket, degauss pins, yoke pins and the video header pins on the chassis and neck board wile you have it out.

also replace all the caps so you dont have to worry about them.

Good luck on the repair.

Peace
Buffett

Thanks for the tips!

I'm a bit over halfway done now, I used up all the caps that worked from the first kit and now have to wait for the others to come in the mail. It's amazing the monitor worked so recently, given the number of bad caps I pulled off it. Going smooth so far, hope it works when I get it back together!

Fixed!

I replaced all the caps except the two with no polarity, and the filter. I actually got a cap for the filter, but the snap in connections didn't fit into the holes well enough and I couldn't use it. I didn't notice the 4.7s had no polarity until I went to put them in, but the old ones look ok.

It seems to work great, though I'm having trouble getting the V-hold just right and it starts shaking sometimes. Hopefully it's just a matter of adjusting it.

I still don't know what this 14" Sanyo is, but here is my list of its electrolytic caps:

Code:
1uF	50V 166,302,406,453,453
1uF	160V 408,467,610
4.7uFNP 25V 162,411 // These are no polarity caps!
10uF	50V 301,303
10uF	160V 407,471
22uF	50V 464
47uF	16V 458
47uF	160V 410
100uF	16V 459
100uF	160V 472
220uF	16V 161,201
220uF	25V 469
330uF	25V 468
470uF	10V 609
470uF	160V 606

Hope this helps someone!
