We have all been there. Your selling an Arcade or Pinball and someone on CL offers you an unusual item in exchange for what your selling.

I think the weirdest thing I was offered was a vacation rental for a week in tahoe. I know, not super weird, but it makes me curious what other people have been offered.

Well?

That guy Kerry offers that a lot to try to secure games from CL.

I have offered (and made deals for) golf clubs. I work in the industry so I can get stuff at cost (or below).

LOL! That is who it was! He is a nice guy but I'm never interested in vacation rentals.

Some guy just offered me a Coke mini refrigerator for my Comet pinball I'm selling. He said it retailed for $3500, I sent him a link to the same fridge being sold at auction for $110. Really people....come on...don't insult my intelligence...

I saw a vintage analog synthesizer posted, 8 or so years ago, on a forum. It was an Oberheim OB-8. Pretty rad if you are into that kind of thing. I didn't have the kind of money that one of those commanded. So, I asked the dude if he was interested in any pinball or arcade games. Turns out he did! One of the ones he mentioned was a Black Knight. I knew an op that had one in his shop and was willing to sell it. I think I paid $450-$500 for it. I paid a friend $50 to fix the boards. I shopped the rest of it. I loaded it up and met him half way in NC or SC. Can't remember. We both got a good deal. I think the keyboard was worth around $900ish at the time. He was a keyboard tech and probably picked the OB-8 up broken for a deal and fixed it. I should have kept all those analog keyboards I had at that time. They are all worth about double what they were 10 years ago...

Guy offered me the car he drove in to pick up my trashed Berzerk for the Berzerk. I asked him how he planned to work that out and he said he'd put the Berzerk into the trunk - by the way this was a vintage 70's Monte Carlo before the truncated the trunks (pun intended) and he DID get it to fit sort of - with ratchet straps and unicorn tears. Then after he drove the game home he said he'd bring me the car back. Turns out he wanted me to drive him home in his car, too. I declined - and took cash instead. Guy called me not 8 hours later wanting me to come over and repair the dead game for free after I carefully described its condition and the fact that it was a fixer upper.

No, he did not have a full set of teef. Before you aks. There are no typos in the previous two sentences.

He drives me crazy sometimes. Mostly it's the other way around....someone has a game and they want to know what I have to trade. It never works out since they always want a motorcycle.

I have been offered pistols, a rifle, rims for a truck and a non-working game. The last one was f*ing hilarious. Some guy called up all hot to make a trade because "Joust is like my like all f*ing time favorite game, ya know". So I asked what he had to trade and he said "like this other game, that is like over at my like ex-girlfriends parent's house. But it like doesn't work. They paid like a whole lot of money for it, so like I know it's like worth something". So I told him to send me a picture and maybe we could work something out. He sent the picture. It was a beat up Joust. So I told him to take a good look at the picture and to get an account here on KLOV and somebody might be able to teach him how to fix it .

ken

PS: I did not take the guns or the rims. Cash is King, baby!

I trade websites all the time for stuff. I really like arcade machines so that works out well.

I was offered an incredible amount of money from a fella in Nigera in exchange for shipping it, and then including a small percentage of the money back.

...What a sucker! He paid me waaaaaaaaaay more than it's worth. That reminds me, I need to drop that money order off to my bank soon.

I have been offered a commercial refrigerator, a paintball gun and snowmobile

I was offered a tanning bed for my Donkey Kong. I didn't take it, but I can't help thinking that I must know someone who would have wanted the tanning bed, and that it all would have worked out in some cosmic karma kind of way.
