What is the most unfulfilling/booring part of restoration for you?

For me, it's cutting back doors... I flippin hate it... absolutely nothing thrilling about it! I never have the right size material lying around so I always have to go out and get a 4x8 that sits in my garage for too long... CAUSE I HATE MAKING BACK DOORS!

Hmmm. Either a tie between sanding/prepping a cab for painting (painting is SO much more interesting), or polishing pinball legs...

Watching the untouched project day from day, from day, fromday,..

Crimping endless replacement connectors. Think Pac-Man 22/44 pin edge connectors, pinball GI circuit headers, etc...

I love soldering, but something about crimping gets on my nerves.

Sanding.. sanding sanding sanding and more sanding...

All of it.

I wish a had a Jay Leno's Garage type set-up. I could buy games all day and have my employees restore them.

+1 ditto!!!!!!

peeling off old artwork/game vinyl. I hate it, i burn my fingers trying to use a heatgun on, get cut up using razorblades, and the best part is when you get it all off and have a massive sticky shape left on the game in the shape of the old art!

+1 on the control panel overlay removal. I think Nintendo CPs (Mario Bros/Playchoice 10)are the worst with the bolts & nuts turning on both side when trying to remove them and they also have that glue or whatever it is on the actual bolt itself that you need to remove.

I use to be this way to untill I read about some guys on here using Citrus Stip. This stuff works great. Just spray it on and 3 to 4 hours later the vinyl will come right off. Comes off so easy you can do it by hand and you can be done with it in about 10 minutes. You have to try this stuff....it will make your life so much easier.

the very fine bondo work.

amen. i used to prefer cosmetic work over electronic work in games, but these days, i'd take electronic work, monitor, board, etc work any day over cosmetic work. all that bondoing and sanding just gets tedious. although, if i had a larger garage i could have a separate area for and not get dust all over everything, that would be nice.

I just grab a sheet of 2'x4' (usually big enough) and have the Home Depot or Lowe's guys cut it for me. If I need to router an edge or put a lock hole in it before painting it, that's nothing...
