Got an Arkanoid recently, the spinner is kinda clunky though, and a little hard to control when playing, what is the best way to smooth up the spinner? Just disassemble and clean? And what is the best kind of lubricant/grease when reassembling?

I just found a similar post to this mine, I'm going to give the stuff they were using a try.

Super Lube-21030 Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease, 3 Oz. https://a.co/d/d4iyo6L

Super lube above works great.
I think original was nyogel.

Best way to tune it up: take it apart. Inspect for damage, missing teeth, cracked gears etc.

Clean (I put mine in ultrasonic) rinse and dry (I use compressed air).

Rebuild. Look at replacing bushings is it's really sloppy.

Install. Break some bricks and have some fun.

Thanks! I ordered a tube, when it gets in I'll rebuild it. I've been looking forward to playing arkanoid for quite awhile now 😆.

This thread has some info about replacing the bushing set. I was able to get a couple of sets of bushings and rebuild one of my spinners that was really sloppy. Another just needed to be cleaned up.

I've done a bunch of these.

- Wash the whole thing in the sink with your favorite spray cleaner (Simple Green, 409, etc).

- Stick in front of a fan overnight to dry.

- Lube all of the contact points for the gear shaft bushings with some form of light oil. (Not the main bushing for the handle, but rather the small ones that hold each gear shaft.) I use Liquid Bearings, but plenty of other things will work. Just one drop per bushing. You don't need much.

I've never found a need to replace the big bushing on the main shaft, as cleaning and lubing all of the gearshaft bushings makes them run smooth as butter.

I also got a cheap brush set that has steel, brass and nylon bristles. I used a combination with cleaners to clean the spinner knob ribs.
