What is the best rattle can paint now?

I know since the reformulation they are not as good but what is the best?

Is there some that are not for general public use that are available that are more like the old stuff?

rattle can paint? I have used some appliance paint on a range hood and it seems to work great. Used some high temp paint for a Fire place. It smokes a bit at frist but then it good to go.

While the current paint I am working on is not rattle can. It is interesting to use it gives a flat matted finish. It takes 3 days to dry. But it does stand up to scrubbing and water.
it's Rust Oleum 254853 Countertop Coating Kit. So far it seems to hold up to water and scrubbing. I know it will stick to laminate not so sure what it will do if there is vinyl. I still need to experiment with that. I don't want that shabby shek look LOL.

Rustoleum is my choice. Since they changed their spray nozzles to the new fat type, their spray cans are now like mini HVLP guns. Great even mist, great overall coverage.

I love Krylon paints. True they don't dry in 30 seconds anymore, but they have a very even, smooth finish. It still dries in "10 minutes or less". They put down paint in a 2D line that can be rotated with the nozzle. I did my entire Pac with the Sun yellow, and just did another cab in blue and black last weekend.

Just don't scrimp due to cost. I have been restoring a bmx bike frame recently and decided to go with an automotive primer in a rattle can that was a little pricier than I ever would have bought in the past. After cleaning and sanding the frame well, I have been going over it in light sweeps with the can. Already, after a couple of coats of primer, the parts already look like I paid the $150.00 I was quoted for stripping and beadblasting from a professional. You will DEFINITELY get your money's worth with quality spray paint.

I miss Krylon 5-ball "no runs, no drips, no errors" immediate drying Acrylic Lacquer paints... especial 1613 -- Semi-Flat Black.

Dang regulations made them get rid of Lacquer (for consumer applications) and replace them all with crappy enamel paints, as are most of the other spray cans out there.

Yeah, you ran into more blistering with Lacquer but if you prepared your surface it had excellent, super fast results with any-time recoat! Refurbished many game cabinets and black metal parts in the mid-90's with that stuff. Now it's about $8 a can in large lots if you want to still get it, vs. the $2.00 a can on sale/rebate for the RustOleum or Painters Touch locally.

Automotive cans if the color you need is made.

I'm so pissed at Rustoleum lately! Their nozzles suck and must be cleaned/soaked after in solvent if you are not going to finish the can and use at a later date. They constantly clog on me and never were like that! If you don't clean them, the rest of the can is wasted.

I still use their paints, but am pissed at the nozzels!

+1 for Krylon, but I'm not a fan of their new nozzles.

Yeah and the latest RO/PaintersTouch are any direction spray so you can't even 'clean them' by holding the can upside down.

To solve this, I have a stash of nozzles from every can... I went through enough that I could use up a can, move the nozzle to the next can, save the unused one away, then keep using the dirty nozzle until it started to clog. Throw it and use a saved one. Probably have 40+ Krylon, Rustoleum and Painters Touch (old and new) ready to swap on when needed.

The tall blue nozzles from Dutch Boy (K-mart/Sherwin Williams) don't come off and those are the hard ones to use up the entire can before it seals up.

Rustoleum used to have a good semi flat and I used some recently and it either ran or when misted was like a powder surface when it dried.

Krylon has always been good stuff I think it was them who made the bbq paint.
you would heat the metal then spray it then bake it and that stuff was tough.

Saw Red Devil spray paint the other day but haven't tried it yet.

The Krylon Fusion I have had mixed results, doesn't take any wear well.

Will try the auto stuff on the centipede legs as I need something durable.

I know, no kidding!

Recently I spotted the same nozzels on my wifes hair spray cans. I will be taking those off before they hit the recycler from now on!
