what is needed to convert a punch out into a play choice 10?

just curious?? i have 1 restored punch out cab i am leaving as dedicated. i picked up a second punch out cab that fully works just needs some TLC to the run down scratched up cab. the hope was to hold out for a SUPER pcb but i have given up all hope of actually finding one.

onto my question. what is needed to convert this cab into a playchoice 10? im hoping JUST the pcb? power supply, harness, monitors are all a direct match?? i have seen a few playchoice 10 pcb's for sale but some of them have the individual game carts missing. can a playchoice 10 operate with say.....3 carts missing??

thanks....

You should just need a dual monitor PC-10 PCB and control panel. They should be plug and play as they were part of kits designed for that exact purpose. You can play a PC-10 just fine with as few or as many cartridges as you want. Most of the time (at least if you are looking on E-bay) you will only get PCBs with no cartridges anyway. I haven't owned a PC-10 myself but I remember playing SMB2 on them back in the day. Not a bad way to ge since you have an extra working Punch Out sitting around.

You also need the auxiliary control harness. The Punch-Out portion of the harness only controls player 2, not player 1 or the ability to select/start a game.

Just a few differences besides the PCB.

1. - Control panel
2. - Harness is the same but there is an extra harness between the PCB and the control panel for the extra joystick and buttons.
3. - The FCC shield

Here's a pic of the other harness- Barry

Or you could sell the punch out and buy a playchoice 10 and have money left over

thanks everyone! excellent place to start. the hunt begins for a PCB (2 player) control panel and harness

cheers2

Don't do it! Hold out for the SPO! PC-10's suck the fuzzy hair off donkey balls... who really wants an NES with a timer (or on free play a NES with fewer and more expensive games)??

pc10

I have a PC10 and it's quite fun. Some games like Gauntlet are terrible on the PC10 but most are fun like duck hunt, track and field, excitebike, etc. Oh and you can turn the timer off with a DIP switch.

I have a full PO kit for my PC10 cab so I can easily switch from one to the other. It's a good time.

Now I'm torn. I am a day away from trading my PC10 dual monitor cab for a Vs. Unisystem cab and a bunch of extras... but I would also really love a Punch Out setup. I would love to setup a trade for my PC-10 stuff for your Punch Out stuff. Just don't want to piss off my buddy.
