Hello all,

The more I get into repairing bastardized machines the more I am reaching out for things that aren't usually for sale by fellow members. I know there are sites that sell additional items such as Bob Roberts etc but made me start to think what is missing that needed to be filled.

What I'm thinking are items that are not readily available or severely overpriced that can be located and purchased in bulk and then resold to the community. I'm not referring to cosmetic repair (side art, CPO's etc) but to the internal parts.

Somebody (cant remember name) is selling locks which is great and thinking along the same sort of lines (not locks as that need is already filled)

I would be interested to know what the thoughts are around this.

My continued purchases seem to be jamma harnesses to replace bad hack jobs of internal wiring when cabinets are converted. An then hours with a schematic to rewire properly.

Some of the guys at SMAC have done bulk purchases of capacitors and then made their own cap kits. Essentially everybody says how many of each monitor they need, somebody buys all individual caps from say Mouser or where ever, and then they put them all together as cap kits for everybody. A sort of community project that works out for everybody in the end.

Worked out great, and was much cheaper per kit. Something like $2-$3 per kit rather than $10-$15 if I remember correctly.

I always have a hard time finding similar (preferably exact) screws and bolts for my cabinets. None of the local hardware stores really come close, but they are available in bulk online.

Bob Roberts and Mikes arcade have some good control panel bolts, but everything else can be tough.

Would also be nice if somebody had some documentation as to the type of hardware each manufacturer used.

(Yes, I know .. probably way too anal. but if I'm restoring a machine, might as well do it right)
