What is a new G07 tube worth?

I'm just curious what folks think G07 tubes are worth brand new? I have two machines with some solid burn that I was thinking about replacing the tubes on. I know that there are some other 19" monitors still available, but I am considering just ordering some more tubes and keeping the G07's in them since they are pretty bullet proof.

Thanks,

Please let me know if you find a source. I would think they would be worth around 150. I was paying around 130 for 801 tubes

no clue but it does make me wonder if the chassis and yoke combination more determiner the quality of the picture or is it the tube? I'm cheap so I would probably keep the g07 yoke/chassis combo and swap in a no burn tube from an old TV.

Wasn't there a big thread around here that bemoaned the fact that there are no more crt manufacturers?

I might have found a source for G07 tubes. If it pans out and I can get my two I need, I will share the info. :) I was thinking about $150 too, but just wanted to hear some input...

Also, does anyone know of a list of tubes from TVs that are compatible? I keep seeing things like test the yoke, blah, blah, blah, but if someone has swapped one, did they not write down the tube number from the TV? That would certainly make it easier... Or are they just finding the same tubes in TVs?

If there are some other compatible tubes that would work, I would love to check my possible source for those in case they are cheaper! Thanks

$150 for a raster tube is over priced IMHO. When you can order a brand new 8 liners monitor for $140-$160 shipped why would a person not go that route? By the time that you recap and add a new flyback and have to converge - too much work. I personally would rather buy a unit ready to plug in and play.

For one, I already did a complete rebuild on my pac-man's G07. It works great, but the burn-in is even visible through the plexi... My concern is that the replacements that are currently available are not going to be as bulletproof as a G07. If they go out, they won't be as easy to fix for sure. Plus I don't have to mess with trying to put some other monitor in my cocktail as I just have to swap in a new tube. Putting the G07 tube in it is closer to original for what that is worth. My joust hasn't been rebuilt yet, but I have a full Bob Roberts rebuild kit already for it, so it doesn't make sense for me to go with another monitor when I can get the one I have (bad crystal castle burn) looking like new!

Anyway, I ordered two tubes and they are supposed to be here by Thursday. :) I also found a coupon for the site online and saved %20 off my order. My fingers are crossed. If there is a problem, they have a solid return policy.

I'm certainly not preaching that everyone should do this, but I think it is the right decision for me for these two monitors/games.

I started to put together a list of makes/models of TVs that have useable tubes in them vs ones that do not, but its only got one or two entries so far :) Not sure if it'll ever get anywhere but as I come across TVs I'll start logging them.

Whats your source? Link Please!

I'm validating the source as we speak since I have two on order... I am also compiling a list of TVs that have compatible tubes. If the tubes show and everything is good, I will post all the info later this week. Just don't want to make all my options disappear if this first order falls through. :)

The last time I shared a source (WG6100 tubes), they dried up real quick after that and of course before I could get a second NOS tube.

I think they were discussed before along with VDC. I think they take apart the tube, redo the phosphorescent coating and replace the guns with new ones and reseal the tube. So it is basically refurbished, but look and work like new.

Sounds expensive. :)

Thanks for the info.

The TV tube # can be pulled from this doc. Just look for a tube that uses the same adaptor as your tube, it may not be 100% reliable but it seems to work for me.

So far it has worked for me. I have swapped 13" tubes and 25" tubes as well as tubes and chassis that use different adaptors like the CR30 as well.

Some tubes are oddly blown (shaped) and some tubes mounting points don't line up right though. It takes a little trial and effort.

So far, not so good. They called to find out the Model and Serial Number of the devices I needed the tubes for. I went ahead and gave them the Electrohome information in case it actually would help them. Anyway, the distributor I ordered through has not sold the part since 1996. Right now the supplier is looking for the part. I'm supposed to hear back from the distributor and will post the good or bad news... Fingers still crossed. :)

You cannot re-coat a tri-color surface like in a normal crt. VDC and others who 'rebuild' crt's only rebuild the type that are used in things like 3-gun projectors used in the old-style projection tv's and ceiling projectors.. This is because each tube is one color so its a solid coating without pixels, masks..etc. Crt's in monitors will never be rebuilt.. once they are done, they are done.

Right there on their website they claim they claim to sell rebuilt tubes...and at the bottom it reads "Hawk-Eye is not a supplier of Projection or Scope Tubes."
