im buying a sourthren belle pin tonnight and wondering what its worth and if its even worth picking up this will be my first pin(well my first coin op pin )
this shpould be good for me to learn on since its an old em

should i go ahead and make the purchase (going to be paying less than 100$ for it )

and if there are any problems are parts still avail for this old of a pinball

I can't access your link from work but the (mechanical) parts are available. The only two parts you really need to worry about are the playfield and backglass. One quick warning, Gottleib coyrights are still enforced so you have to buy all manuals/schematics from 'The Pinball Resource' (second hand) instead of being capable of downloading them for free.

I wouldn't get it. For a little more $$$ you can a get much more entertaining machine.

well this is the first and only pin i have found local for under 100$ that is coin op
it dates to 1955 and from the pin database there is only 1000 units made
it rates a 6.3

from the info i have from the seller it has been huo since thy were little kids(aka early 60's)
and has no wear at all on the play feild

one of the selling points for me is that unlike most of the old school ems from that era it actually has bumpers down by the flippers instead of just being open

if it is indeed in the conditon stated i probaly will get it as the price is right

my main concern was parts avail and what the pins actual value is id like to think im getting it for a good price

A wood rail for under $100? If it's in one piece then buy the damn thing. If nothing else you can hold on to it and sell it to a collector later who will lovingly restore it.

Wood rails are hard to come by these days. If the condition is as you've described you would be a damn fool to not buy it.

Just my $.02 CDN

I can understand his sentiment, if he is extremely cramped on space and doesn't wan't to buy something that will get in the way of a future purchase. Also, the market for something this old is just not that big. I have two 1950's machines, one a Genco and the other a Bally Bingo but I doubt any local pin collector would consider buying either of these machines off of me.

Of course, he could buy it and part it out but that would be a travesty...

well at 100$ im shure i can buy it now
play it till im bored with it (and mabey get a little exp with em repairs)
and then sell it for what i paid or more we will see im going to go look at it here in 20 mins
if it works well and the play feild is as stated it will be mine

ps how heavy are these old wood rails does the back glass usually fold on them
im hauling this beast in my elcamino how long are they

You can easly fit it into your elcamino. The back box does not fold down on these, If you want to take it off it must be removed. My machine from that era isn't very heavy either. There are a series of connectors from the backbox to the cab that will have to be pulled before removing the box. It will be held on by two to four bolts 9/16 heads, I think. How far away is it? You may be able to transport it home by just removing the legs and balls, at leat that is how I'd do it...

im sad i had to pass on it even for 100
it was sposed to work
it didnt (would come on and buzz like crazy then shut off )
it was sposed to have a good playfeild
it didnt(playfeild had some good wear around the middle bumpers and at the bottom around the return hole all the plastics were warped )

uggg if it didnt work but had a good playfeild i would have bought it but with a so so playfeild and it not working it just was not worth my time

ps really all you jack asses that call and make offer above the asking price can go suck it i was luck enough that this lady was honest enough since i was the first to contact to honor the 100$ price i hope the duche that offerd the lady 400$ to sell it to him instead of me gets it and it never works lol

Not to be nasty but,if you find a good deal...don't post until after you buy it....then maybe someone won't try to scoop it on ya....doesn't sound like you care either way so .....

I assumed that was a generic rant, not really aimed at KLOVers. Id be willing to bet that everyone who offered more money are typical CL douches and don't intend to pay the higher amount anyway...

I could just as easily say I've got several games from the 50's that would sell for thousands with ease.

Apples to oranges.

Yes, I did specify local collectors...

Of course, there are always machines that are worth more from any era but I've never heard any hype about this particular machine.

Fair enough.

It will be a cold day in hell when even the least desirable Gottlieb wood rail is not worth $100.

Average ebay price for that game: $986
