What in your collection has taken the most money??

Personally I'm not keeping track. It seems to me most of the time you will end up having more in a game then it is worth. My game room has been fun putting together both finding the games and the time spent with my boys going to get them. I don't want to put a price on any of it as I think that will spoil the hunt, the find, and the pleasure of the hobby.:)

I've been at this whole thing all of a month...

Sunday I picked up my most expensive cabinet, that also happened to be in the worst shape...
Rookie mistake, and I was in a hurry to get back on the road (100+ mile drive)

$300 (not including gas)

Welcome to the hobby. What was the game?

This is an easy one... without a doubt, my Bally Space Flight EM game has sucked the most $$$'s out of me. But I don't mind, it is my all time favorite EM game. I probably paid (don't remember exactly) about 450.00 for the game, partially working plus shipping. Had it this way until I discovered this:

Kevin's website is here:

The info on the replacement board is about 1/4 way down the page. It is the coolest bit of engineering I've seen in a long time. Since installing this in my Space Flight game, it is now fully working. All told I probably have about 1800.00 in this game that I'll never see again, but it doesn't matter to me. Space Flight is one of my keepers and is not going anywhere.

Tron sucks...probably $1200
720 was a close second at probably $1000 and 2 months shipping everything halfway across the country

An interesting or devastating thing about this hobby-

You buy a project, because it's affordable and/or cheap.

I realize it's possible to 'just get it working', but a lot of what this hobby is about is restoration. After parts, repro artwork, and money we want to spend on the stuff, it's sometimes better to not know what you spent on a single game.

Thanks for the welcome!!

It was Popeye.
As it turns out, it's probably a blessing in disguise. The boards, and monitor all look to be very clean, and in really good shape.
The cabinet is a mess though. Seller completely mis-represented it. But, it will be good practice so I don't screw up fixing Donkey Kong (not that much needs fixed).

Point Blank. Bought it at an auction for $225, was a great deal for a wide body version in decent working shape. In getting it delivered the guy I had deliver it didn't secure the back and both power supplies fell out of it. After that the guns did'nt work any longer (they did at the auction). So a two new power supplies (got a great deal on one), a new gun PCB, testing service for the light guns. Went to replace the marquee and got sent the wrong one, seller made good on it, but took forever to ship the first one and didn't ship the correct one. Getting into the wiring for the game has been a nightmare, apparently Stevie Wonder wired this game, and I haven't had the time to start all over.

The guns now work intermittantly, I think I have the issue solved but need a break from messing with it before I drop it in Lake Michigan.

PSU.........69.99
24v PSU...14.99
Gun Test..20.00
Gun PCB...99.99

Good price for a fun little game. Exterior is easy, fun stuff if you ask me.

My Pinballs....

Revenge from Mars close to 3k
Theater of Magic over 3k

Cabinets seem reasonable compared to these....

I would have gone with a switching power supply for $15-20 instead of a $70 one. You probably could have bought new guns from happ for not much more than just the pcb. A force feedback dual gun 45cal kit with power supply, 2 guns, I/O board, and cables runs around $250, so just one gun would be much less.

My, uh, only cab, my Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, cost me about $375. But, y'know what? It's MINE. I made the money for it and paid for it out of my own pocket. Without a job. (Sold old toys online to get the money.)

And it's awesome. I'm gonna clear out space to make room for future machines. If I can get 'em. But that's a while down the line.

I will not even mention what I piad but I have every one but the pin owners and the white Computer Space beat. I bought a Tug Boat back in 2002 and had it shipped to CA. Bought it from a now KLOVer (Don't think he was at the time). Paid a big price as I though they were rare and didn't know they would be coming out of the wood work. Also someone else offered a bit as well. Before I got to unwrap it a guy who I had been emailing trying to buy his Pirate Treasure and each time I would up the offer finally emailed saying he was trying to buy his wife another car and if I wanted it for my last offer of X (Same as I paid for the Tug Boat)+shipping I could have it other wise it would go to the news groups or ebay. I had to sell my Tug Boat (Which I never unwrapped) and another game (Desert Race) for cash and a trade (Jamma Moppet). Then bought the Pirate Treasue which I only wanted for the PCB. PCB had minor issues, Monitor didn't work (I knew that before hand). I still have the PCB and the cabinet is the Crystal Castles Moppet. I did later buy his other Moppet at a much cheaper price but it got stolen by a trucking company that was suppose to deliver it to me. Just happened to be the only game they picked up for me :-(.
