What if one doesn't have a 'Grail' game?

With all this 'Grail Talk' going on it made me realize that I don't have a strong desire to acquire any specific game. I just like watching for stuff to pop up that I may be interested in owning. I like old/new arcade games in general. :)

Nothing wrong with that. Its just that some people have a specific game(s) they enjoyed the most that bring back special memories. Usually its more than 1 game.

You have created a gray area for me. I've always said it's pointless to have a bunch of beat up games that no one will play. But if you truly have no favorites (which is just unreal!) then you are justified to have a building full of cheap beat up games that most people won't play.

Damn you -

You had to meet one. :)

I have favorites but they are all fairly equal in ranking. I have gotten the ones were toward the top of the list of favorites. I don't have any games that really stand out that I am seeking out - that was my point.

For example, I like the 1983 Star Wars arcade game but it is not a Grail for me. If I get one then great, if not, oh well.

And for the record, not all of my machines are beat up (I don't think I have any that I would classify as beat up - I get your point - buying machines just to have them no matter the condition :) ). Beat up games to me are ones that did time in a Laundromat. That place destroys games. :) I have one that spent time in a Laundromat but is not in that bad of shape and worth saving.

Honestly - that's half the fun!

I play my generic jamma cab more than anything because I can change it out.

I'm half thinking about getting a bunch of jamma games and boards and make bad conversions every so often. Gives me something to do, new games to play, and I don't have to worry about making the games look perfect/etc.

Might be funny to do one year.

I never meant to have it come across as "You rgames are all crappy" lol
I think the HUGE benefit for you and your line of thinking is, you don;t care enough about a game to HAVE to restore it. I'm envious. I only acquire games I love which means it's almost always an automatic restoration.
The BIG down fall to my mindset is I end up passing on games simply because I know the price tag to restore it will be unjustifiable and yet looking at a beat up game will eat me alive ;)

I know. Didn't take it that way. I just couldn't resist. :)

I actually like some games to "show some mileage".
