Started off with a search to find a pinball forum to ask about a GI issue, found you and in about 1 months time I have purchased a refirb arcade cabinet and search craigslist every couple of hours. Seems I will be getting a new addition to my arcade this evening. An Atari Kangaroo in its orig cabinet :)

We purchased a new TV and I put the old one up on craigslist and included "would consider trading for a pinball or standup arcade game" Only two inquiries and one was this guy with a Kangaroo. Game looks pretty simple, but for some reason I simply must have it. I think it is to get over the guilt of converting my EFTPOTRM into a MAME in the future. Still have to have at least one classic cab or something.

He is bringing it over tonight with a trailer and helping me get it into the basement and I help him get the TV out and he is throwing in $50 on top of it. I have not seen it, but said this:

Game works great. I've had it for about 5 or 6 years now, and it's never given me a problem. It is in the original cabinet, with all of the side art and the marquee looking great. The bottom of the cabinet has a little damage to the wood where it took on some water, but it's structurally really sound.

Lucky for me the wife really does not care what I do to my mini arcade and just wanted the TV gone. I figured I could get something for it on CL and I got the offer to trade. When I told her about it she just gave me that look. I am sure many of you have gotten the same look ;)

Will post pictures of it tonight :)

Looked at the game on youtube and I agree it is pretty lame. Only 4 levels and they are pretty weak. More looking just to have it actually. Make the man cave a bit more filled. Seems one in decent shape is worth more than what I wanted for the TV so I do not mind.

Put an XX-in-1 (48/60) in it. I am considering doing that to my Kangaroo. Fine cabinet for that use and I don't think anyone will be offended as most people detest the game/game play.

And it seems almost all Kangaroo's look almost new. :)

You have the 'arcade game' sickness as well.

I for one love my Kangaroo with its nifty Showbiz Pizza serial number plate!

I also enjoy it for the game play, which yes, is a bit DK..

Can mario punch monkeys?? I say NO! lol

I think I spoke too soon. The wife talked some sense into me over lunch. Seems I will not be getting the kangaroo. I have been searching CL a bunch for more pins and she pointed out that if I really do not want the kangaroo I should save the $ for another pin that I will love. Also part of the deal was I would put $200 up for the game to compensate for me getting an arcade machine out of the deal.

At least I can play kangaroo on my temp MAME setup.

Still blaming you guys though. It is quite the interesting hobby and you make it seem so cool :p

We have tainted you. Welcome to our fantasy world. HA HA ;)

For the record I am a pinball nut, but looking to collect some arcade machines in the future as well. Just have to wait for something that I will cherish. When it came to kangaroo I just wanted it to have it because it would be another piece in the mini arcade, but it would not get much use in all reality.

Still waiting to find an original arcade cab that I want to own, this one just got me a bit crazed for a day or so. I would take an old lame as heck pin over an arcade machine that would see little play any day.
