I've been busy with pinball machines for the last 3-4 years and haven't had to do any maintenance on video games, but I just got a video project and was going to get a new 19" vision pro monitor like I did the last time I needed another monitor, but I see that they don't sell them any more. All they sell is high priced LCDs. What gives?

due to decreasing demand and increasing environmental concerns in most western nations, large-scale production of CRTs seems to have ceased.

there are still some new monitors (Imperial/Kortek from Arcadeshop.com is the most cited that i've seen, though 8liners.com sells others,) but the quality of these has been a frequent subject of debate. there are also some rebuilts available at a lower price but i forget the name of the site. and with the new monitors it's not clear if the CRTs are actually in production or if we're looking at the last stocks of Chinese-made tubes slowly being sold off.

NIB Vison Pros come up for sale on occasion and command prices starting at $200 without shipping.
