I may be late to the party since I took a hiatus from this hobby for a while, but I was devastated to learn that PowerPro switchers and other Happ power supplies were sold out everywhere! What the heck happened, and when?? Those units are all I have ever used, and I'm sure I'm not alone. What is everyone using now? The only time I ever bought Peter Chou's they were both bad right out of the boxes. I sure as hell ain't buying Mean Well or Rosewill crap. Do I need to go on permanent hiatus next time? With parts prices skyrocketing, quality artwork being hard to get, and fresh(er) television tubes becoming unobtainium, are we watching the curtain slowly close on this industry?

Most of these supplies now come from Twin Fly in Taiwan, and it seems like they'll still offer them:

They only get reasonable in cost to buy in quantity by the container load, and I'd think arcade suppliers are either waiting out the tariff situation that nobody on earth asked for, or they know there is a shrinking market for these in the future so it might not make sense for a smaller operation to buy 5,000 supplies that will take years to sell. This is probably why sellers like AS found it easier to buy from Happ or TQ than buy direct from Taiwan. I think it was actually cheaper for them even in a large quantity?

I'd assume cost from TF is also higher these days, so arcade supplier(s) won't be able to competitively sell at a higher price until everybody else runs out of the cheaper, older stock.

Has anybody asked the sellers for a restocking timeframe or even if they'll be restocking them at all? Happ is sold out on just about everything but you can still get the 200W AT-style 9-pin AMOA switchers from Twisted Quarter for $49, for now: https://twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=521_524

I guess we're to expect a drought, and then availability again at a higher cost. Happ has already sgnificantly increased costs on a lot of products.

Meanwell supplies are good quality and those will probably be around a while.

I received a message from Happ to call them regarding my orders. Seven separate orders, dating back to January, are all on backorder. They asked if I still wanted the items! The coin doors I ordered in March, with an expected ship date of late April, are now expected to arrive in December.

.900 token mechs are out of stock, and sellers on eBay who claim to have them actually do not.

In that case, I'll take 2 Panasonics, a Sony, 3 Toshibas, and a Pioneer (old original logo). I trusted those brands.

The company I used to work for made TONS of power labels like that to put on Chiniseum products to make them look more "American Made."

The client (when describing the design style they wanted) would always request American styled fonts, use American flag graphics, and to make the "Made in China" verbage to be as small and hidden from view as possible.

😡😡

The Happ ones are on backorder due to the tariffs...once that all gets resolved the spice will flow again. I would assume by the end of the year.

Happ had power supplies in stock. when my boss went to buy some then they were out of stock.

he theorizes that Arcadeshop probably bought them up. or maybe Twisted Quarter. who knows

I have someone to replace the caca caps in them and fix. as long as we keep that rotation going we should be ok here for now

Nothing wrong with Mean Well power supplies. They are used extensively in industrial applications. Reliable in my experience. Open up a new Stern pinball machine and you're likely to find one.
I use one in my custom Venture cabaret because of the numerous +/- voltage requirements. It works great!
