Gonna pick one of these up (I still can't believe I talked my Wife into a sit down driving game) and it is the "Alcatraz" version.

I heard you can replace the hard drive with a flash drive. Does anyone know where to get this?

Also, are there any other games/ updates I can install? Rush 2049 etc...

Thanks,

Jim

I don't know of any hacks if you have the Alcatraz version already. Not sure 2049 will work in there if you plug it in, but I never tried either.

About the best upgrade I can think of is getting another one to be able to race another person. Finding all of the secret tunnels and beating the top time score can get a little old after a while.

The flash memory mod is the only one that I know of as well. One thing that always stumped me about "the rock" is that it allows you to play "mirrored" versions of the tracks, but NOT driving them backwards. Even though the tracks were DESIGNED so that you would only find certain path by driving backwards on them. It would SERIOUSLY increase the replay value of the game if there was a "backwards" mode in the game, as this has a PROFOUND effect in how the game plays, much more so than simply "mirroring" the tracks (so that a left turn is now a right turn, etc.)

One of the reasons why Rush for the Nintendo 64 was highly rated was due to the fact that you could not only play ALL of the tracks in "the rock", but also backwards AND mirrored...

No other upgrades than the Alcatraz edition other then the flash drive. 2049 will not work its different hardware from what I'm told. Like the other poster said you need another to race with. I have 4 linked and you cant beat it in my opinion :)

Why would you want to mod whats already greatness? I'd love to have one of these and wouldnt do a damn thing to it as long as it works.
