The original Gauntlet could be factory kit converted to a Vindicators II game, and I believe actually runs on the Gauntlet board with the Vindicators ROM files. I've come across a few of them now and know someone who has one, which is actually really neat other than missing all the cool Gauntlet artwork. The control panel is bolt on, plug in and go and the boardset between them.

Strider - Ghouls N Ghosts - Bionic Commando all use the same exact cabinet, panel and controls with different artwork.

Its not direct plug and play... My sister and brother in law have a Captain America dedicated 4p cab. For X-Mas I gave them a TMNT boardset. We went to plug it in and there was no sound and the 3p/4p connectors were different. I still haven't gotten around to it, but I need to build him two little custom harnesses, one with a potentiometer in line with the speakers, the other to adapt the 3/4p connectors to the TMNT little molex connectors.

Long story short, you can play the game with no sound, but you have to figure out how to adapt the wiring for the sound. Then you'd have to deal with the other two sets of controls. So to play these interchangable 100% you'd have to spend some money on parts and a few hours to do it cleanly and without hacking anything. Then you could switch Captain America and Konami independently and in seconds.

Konami cabs have no pot, the sound volume is all done through the test menu.

I've read you have to replace the Z80 chip after pulling the daughter board but that's it. However, I have not done this first-hand, so maybe Riptor or another "PacProphet" can chime in.

I think someone else aready said it but here it is again. Remove ribbon cable and install z80 in its place. Swap out 5E & 5F character roms and you have pac.
You can also go to pac plus pretty much the same procedure except the two color proms need to be swapped also.

Galaxian and pac are very similar but kind like the asteroids to AD it requires some of the inputs be changed.

But Galaxian is a left right and fire button game
Pacman is up, down, left, right, NO Fire button, so the fire button is the up button, when fitting a galaxian in a pac cab

I don't need one on my project, as the LL will get a new harness
