This has been for sale for a couple months now, started at $250 now they have it at $100. What game is this? I'm tempted because it has movement and all that but what does it play? Is it possible to play more then one game on it? or is this some strange one where you will be hard pressed to find any parts for?

Well, I don't know the game, so is it a lawn ornament or is it something cool?

Not sure what it is other than it looks like one of the simulators I recall seeing in malls in the late 1990's.

That is what I thought is that is was a simulator so I was wondering if this is one that was made to play different games based on what programs you had. That too is why I was asking about 'parts', is it some kind of system that has encryption that is not available yet? I guess I'm really asking if anyone knows what it would take to work and is it worth it?

Looks like a sim to me, I know nothing about them. But I say if you have the time and space (and funds), go for it. Could be really really cool.

You would really need to contact the guy and see if he can tell you what game it is or at the very least who manufactured it. It should be labeled somewhere on the unit but depending on how lazy the guy is he might not want to look. There might be an issue moving that it looks like its leaning very far to one side I would be afraid it would roll off the trailer in transit. Ethier way if you can find out what it is it should be added to the KLOV database.

the way he describes about the game i can't figure if it works or not. he says everything works then at the end he says " SEEMS LIKE IT COULD WORK IF YOU KNOW THE GAME "

On the parts side of things - it's hydraulic or pneumatic, (or a mix of the two), and I don't expect that the hydraulics/pneumatics are themselves all that special (McMaster Carr can probably provide everything you'd ever want). Might be damned expensive, but as long as the points where the cockpit mounts to other stuff are solid, you're in good shape there. Also, most pneumatic/hydraulic system (I'm leaning toward thinking hydraulics) tend to be pretty robust.

I'd say that if you can get to look at it, you should try. You'll want to see if there are any controls in it (from the pictures, it could be a virtual roller coaster, for all I can tell), and whether the hydraulics/pneumatics under that skirt look OK or not (they could be rusty as all shit. Not likely, but if it was stored wrong, it's possible).

Also, is there some kind of computer or other controller on the thing? I kind of have the feeling that the silver box on the front has connectors for something else to control it, and that this might be only half of the story. The lack of side art really says 'I'm part of something else' to me.

Could be a really cool project, or perhaps a source of used hydraulics.

he's posting all over florida craigslist. the inside looks homemade. single seat screwed to the floor and a CRT that isn't mounted well at all. oh, and a steering wheel. the PC is a Gateway. i remember other pictures, and i don't think it's hydraulic, but they were not the best pics. pumps and cylinders mount from front to back.

i think the guy probably bid on a storage auction, and got this out of that bay. it's worth $100.00 easily...if you can move it. whatever the mechs are that make it move, are worth money, even broken. of course, the Gateway computer will get you 25 bucks.

whether a simulator or a homemade whatchamacallit, someone local go look at the damm thing and post a maker name. he's 6 hours from me, or i would go just to plug it in and see what it can do.

so you actualy saw this thing?

I just started seeing it about two months ago on Tampa CL and these are the only pics I have seen, maybe he didn't include 'arcade' in the other listings so I missed them. It was interesting at $250 but like you said for $100 you really can not go wrong.

My biggest reservations is where I would put it and getting it back off my truck without getting the whole block involved. Tell you what, driving a Pole Position cockpit across the Skyway was scary enough, very windy day, I would hate to do it with the 2,000 pound leaning tower of Pisa. Could be a really fun project though and pretty cool if you got it all working which brings me back to the original question, what can you do/play with it?

Re:

I'd turn it into a helicopter sim or something...That's if the original game inside sux.

It was probably a custom deal to run a PC driving game. I went to a car show once and they had some fancy 100% enclosed hydraulic machine that let you play a NASCAR PC based racing game. It even had a camera inside so folks standing outside could see your face. I remember that it made me very disoriented, and wasn't all that great.

The one I rode did not look like that, but I would bet money it was the same basic setup.
