What does the old late 70s Midway coin door emblem represent?

I've always seen it as an the approach to an airport runway.

Any other interpretations?

Until you posted that picture, I never realized how Midway cheezily blocked out the "PRESS BUTTON TO START GAME" text left over from the mechanical machines, hence that rectangle hanging out to the left of that arrowhead shape.

My guess is it's supposed to be a stylized arrow to draw attention to the "start button" that's on some of the older doors between the two coin slots.

Now I see the stylized arrow... I didn't even think to cross reference the Midway EM games.

Funny that the "press button to start" blurb was literally blackened out...

Thanks!

Looks feasible to me, that makes sense.

As for how they blocked out the lettering, if they got rid of the rectangle on the left though it'd make the whole logo look kind of unbalanced with that gold to the left, maybe they should have just redesigned the whole thing.

aha so thats why my space invaders says it but its blacked out!!!
