What do you think is the the ideal cabinet to put Rastan in?

I have had a board for a long time and I really would like a cabinet for it. My thoughts are either using a Double Dragon, Gladiator, or just go generic with a Dyanmo. Although it would look real sharp in a Double Dragon cabinet with the Taito graphic on the side.

I have seen this game in alot of cabinets, but my favorite were always the Joust Williams style and the Standard Dynamo (non corner-cut).

I'd agree. One of the standard Taito cabinets like what Qix and ZooKeeper were in.

That is good

I think that a newer one would be better:

I've seen Rastan in practically every cab since it was a common and popular kit.

It looks good in a classic Taito, but you would need to find an empty one or one that is already JAMMAtized. Also, finding a CP that you can convert/restore is not an easy task.

I think the best candidate would be the JAMMA Taito (Double Dragon). All you need to do is drop in the board. Also, I saw an official manual at one of the CAX vendor booths that referred to the Double Dragon cab as a "Universal Taito Cabinet" which makes sense as it was the cabinet that Superman, Cadash, etc. were placed in for the most part. I would think it would be the same for Rastan.

Shame you're not closer....I've got a pretty nice Playchoice single that's been converted to JAMMA. Rastan would look nice in there:

Tighe, get yourself back over to the storage unit. Steve and I have a vigilante in a joust and 2 converted jungle hunt taito cabs. We will cut you a good deal.

That was what I wanted the "In the Hunt" cab for, but Ian wanted the cab, and I really came for the DK. The POW was really nice, so nice I knew I wouldn't be able to convert it even though it was a Dynamo. Did you see I got that cocktail working? I was the filthiest cabinet I have ever seen on the inside. I think they used it so smoke meat.

Does the monitor in that Vigilante work?

Yes,
The vigilante game is working. I think it id jamma, so you probably could just plug and play.

Haa haa! But I like Vigilante! So what do I put Rastan in? :D Also that is a Joust, tempting to deconvert. You guys are killing me. I guess I could get a JAMMA switcher and it could be Vigilante / Rastan / Black Tiger / Hippodrome.

RASTAN!!!

It seems like such a simple side-scroller...a copy of so many other game...almost generic.

That said I can't get enough of it. I think Rastan is the game I played the most of a CAX. It's such an awesome game. I need to get one one somehow.

I bought a working Rastan board from Pete (one of the vendors) at the show for $25. He was really nice and let me test it in my DD cab before I bought it. Definitely a side-scrolling Taito classic. If Rastan isn't there next year Jeff and you don't happen to pick one up, I'll bring my board and swap it into DD for you. :)

The only problem with putting it in a Taito cabinet like Double Dragon is that they made a really cool plexi rastan bezel that fits really nicely into a Williams cabinet. I've seen several of them in those, with the plexi bezel and cpo the art looks great on them.

The plexi bezel might fit the classic taito cabs too I don't know.
