Once again I've managed to fill every available slot in my garcade. I swear it doesn't take long to do in this hobby!

Only problem is, I basically enjoy all that I have now, and hopefully this time around I won't have to sell any more for cash :(

My question to all of you is, what do you do when you hit maximum capacity?? Do you sell games off? Do you put blinders on and stop looking at ads? Or do you keep bringing them home regardless?

I also know that thanks to my current predicament, I'm going to need to add yet another outlet, if not 2! Call the fire station now! :(

I am at maximum capacity right now too. I have some keepers that I want to put in the basement arcade so I am going to try shuffling the crap I have on the unfinished side of the basement and put some games there. I have a few that I want to keep as "garage" games, and then there are a few projects that need to be finished to be sold. However, I have not been focused on the games that are definitely going out. Should probably get on that.

I'm in the same predicament as you are in. I'm looking to buy a $500 outside storage shed to put bikes & lawn equipment in just so I can squeeze in anther two cabs.

i tear cabinets apart and actually stack them. I had a gauntlet II that was disassembled and stuffed in a jamma cab, except for the game sides!

When I hit maximum I tend to sell projects that I ether no longer have as much interest in or just know I wont have the time to do anything with for a while. I do have my "keepers" that I wont sell but at one point I had a bunch of empty or almost empty project cabs that I sold off to make room. I've also moved a couple to the break room where I work, the employees enjoy them and it gives me more room. I must say that at this point I've started passing on a lot of "generic" games due to space but I try to maintain some extra space for those keeper or grail games that might come along - cause ya never know what you may find at that garage sale on Saturday morning....

Not looking is just so hard to do! I have 1 spot open and wow, its soo tempting to fill it.. Then what? I have a guest bedroom thats got room for more.. Hmmm. Stupid addicting hobby! Hard to pass up on those good deals even when you have no space to put them!

Heh. I KNOW what you do with yours :) You put them in a good friend's finished basement ;)

That's good idea actually. Win-win. I can store some classics for you :) I have references!

I'm also a firefighter, I'll have you covered there too :D

But my garage/game workshop isn't heated. What will I do for heat if I'm not burning old cabinets? And I think I'm addicted to the chemicals that come from burning old paint and MDF anyway.

I'm saving an EDOT and Star Wars cabinet for the really cold days. Lots of nice wood there. (Completely kidding, sarcasm is so hard to convey on the internet.)

Chris, I don't want to bring more dead wood over, gotta get 'em working right before I drop 'em off. LOL

I have four cabs at a local arcade. It helps with space and earns me a little money on the side. Other than that, I just don't buy machines since I am out of room. I do tend to pick up free cabs but I try very hard to not purchase anything new...

If I'm in need of space this is how things usually go:

Sell a complete non-working project
Sell working conversion
Move games around for optimized use of space
Part out non-working incomplete project
Sell a working dedicated game.

Panic! No, wait, just kidding. I've had to stop keeping games for my friends as my collection has grown. I plan to rearrange the garage and get rid of a lawn edger and turn my pinball around. I might get enough room for a cab or two, but right now I'm stuffed! That's okay, even if I never get another game, I'm happy with how my collection turned out.

Well I am not out of space yet.. I have an unfinished basement I can start moving
games into. I wold rather finish it first but that is a ways off. The garagcade is where I
am at now. So far I've squeezed 11 cabinets in. Its starting to get kinda cramped.

I'd rather keep one or two as projects in the graage and the rest in the basement
but those basement stairs! If I put a cabinet down there it isnt coming back up.
I want to make sure the cabinets are restored to the point I am happy with them
before taking them down there.

Solving the space problem

Here is what I do when space is running at a premium. The games in top working & cosmetic condition that I have had the longest go up for sale. When they sell, I have the benefit of $$ coming in to pay for parts, etc of project games. Also the added incentive to get projects done....so I've got something new to play!

i live in an apartment,at least you guys have garages/basements. i had to rent a storage space for a couple projects and extra cab,i have 2 working cabs in the living room and a english mark darts in the hall,i switch'em out with ones i pick up and put in storage but its a major pain in the a**.

Just move them out of the garage and into the house, how many times do you use the dining room as opposed to the games?

Quit parking in the garage and you'd have tons of room...

I sold off a bunch that I felt I could "live" without. I've also slowed down the search quite a bit. A guy can fill up his basement or garage in record time we all know.

I'm sticking to games I really want, not just ones that are a good deal, or were close by.

I know some guys have added on, or built bigger garages, etc.

I've been spending more time decorating my arcade as an alternate to bringing home tons of games....
