what do you do when you are "so close" with getting a game working??

I don't have that problem. All of my games are working for the most part and I can't afford any projects or parts, so I don't have to worry.

I'm basically in that same boat. The problem is, I bought this game (the OR) last December and it's been sitting in the corner since about January. I figured I better start working on it again because all of my other games basically work now, and I could swear the other day I saw this one give me the finger..

The best way to handle this is to work on about 3 games at the same time. Figure out what your good number is. So say you're working on a Ms. Pac and need a fuse block, order it and anything else you need, and while you're waiting for the parts start working on your Defender. By the time you figure out the Defender needs new ram, you'll have your fuse block in for the Ms. Pac Man, and can work on it while you wait on the ram... etc.
