What do you consider to be the best 2-Player Jamma game out there?

It's JAMMA "+" (for the rotary joystick connectors), but for the 2PL co-op catagory, I nomonate:

Ikari Warriors

Side scroll beat um up games

Just wanted to cast my ballot too. :D

01. FINAL FIGHT
02. DOUBLE DRAGON
03. ALTERED BEAST
04. P.O.W.
05. NINJA GAIDEN

---------------

Hey, IMHO, the the 2-PLayer Beat-'em-up category is too small.

Next time, we should group all the Shoot-'em-up, Beat-'em-up, Hack-and-slash, and Fighting games in to one category and then vote. :D

3 Wonders. 3 different games and all can be played co-op and all have crazy good graphics and are tons of a fun... a shooter, a side-scrolling shoot/beat em up, and a puzzle game (like Pengo)

Sorry, I'm a bit of a 3 Wonders fanatic. I have a PCB, 3 marquees (one british/bootleg?, one NOS), a flyer (that I scanned in and is used in the arcade flyer section of KLOV - though i see I'm not credited ofr it anymore - oh well), 2 bezels (19" and 25"), NOS CPO, and NOS Capcom sideart. Someday i will build the best, most complete 3 Wonders :)

As for side scrolling beatemups, my best are as follows,
1. Night Slashers
2. Aliens Vs. Predators
3. Final Fight
4. Sengoku
5. Martial Champions(not a beatemup, but it might as well be.

Of course, bust a move is awesome as is the entire metal slug series. And its not fair to look for the best 2 player game without including the shootemups. Too many to list a best. Then you have the fighters. And for what its worth, someone mentioned Splatterhouse. I was under the impression that only one person could play that at a time, which would rule it out. If not, there is a whole slew of games that had competative 2pl turn based play that we must consider. Pinball for example, Galaga for another.....

There's too many genres mixing to call a best. It would be fun to do a best of each genre, I think.

Objectively, it has to be Street Fighter II, however. That game saved the arcades from dying and breathed a few more years into locations. It and its clones kept people coming back to arcades at a time when not much else was.

Armored Warriors is also a really nice Capcom SSBeU breaking appart other robots and stealing their parts for you robot is a really nice mechanic.

Outfoxies. I don't think there are any other JAMMA games that have the same type of 2-player experience.

It's unlike most fighters, ssbeu, and shooters that may have different themes but are very similar to other games of the same genre.

The best ones I think are fairly well narrowed down in my top 50 book.

One of my favorites which rarely ever is mentioned was Magic Sword. A true jamma plug and play horizontal two player beat em up classic.

Technically you are right but it really kinda is as one the fathers of the SSBeUs category. There is such a vast difference between them that I personally think that DD is old school. "Almost classic even though it is JAMMA"

Hey, if we're adding 2-Player SIDE SCROLLING FIGHTERS and HACK-N-SLASH games to the list of 2-Player BRAWLERS, then I'd like to give a to +1 a few games and add a few more games to the list.

+1 MAGIC SWORD
+1 SMASH TV
+1 METAL SLUG (any)
+1 SHOCK TROOPERS

GHOULS ('NG),
GHOSTS ('NG),
SHINOBI,
SHADOW DANCER.
NARC

;)

Mine would definitely have to be Time Soldiers, grew up playing this game and always on the hunt for that perfect machine.
I've got a Time soldiers CP, board, manual and marquee. But I raided the happ rotary joysticks out of it for an Ikari warriors I sold. It's all up for grabs, make me a reasonable offer.

Back on topic, my vote goes for pang/buster bros.
