What do I do with this cabinet?

I recently came in to possession of this cabinet with Gal's Panic III in it.

The body is some generic manufacturer that no longer exists in meh shape, the t-molding was poorly affixed and should be replaced, the CP has Gal's Panic II logo, the fluorescent ballast was broken, speaker needs to be replaced, etc etc etc. But! The tube is burn free, the coin doors are immaculate, power supply and PCBs are in great shape, and, well, it was kinda cheap.

I'm not much of a collector, but I have a dream of some day having a cabinet for every Soul Calibur and Tekken game with an arcade release. So, what makes the most sense here? Shine her up and try to get a good price for it? Do I sell the PCB, make a new CP and put one of the aforementioned fighters in it? Take the monitor out and save it for a better cabinet that may roll around some day? What would you do?

I used to dig the original Gals Panic... a truck stop classic. The sequels were not quite as good, despite the "improved" graphics.

But whatever. This looks like a great jamma cab to play a wide variety of vertical shoot em ups. Might need to add a button or two for each player, but there's room.

Re-mounting the monitor in a horizontal orientation could be easy, or it could be a major pain... hard to say without looking in the back. Personally, I'd leave it vertical and be on the lookout for a different cab for fighting games... preferably one with a little more control panel real estate to work with.

You can probably sell the PCB on ebay for some good $$$ to someone in china and easily pay for what you have into it. Then add an extra button, put in a 60-1 and let you kids (if you have any) play with it.

Why do you want to "DO" anything with it? You can just play it and enjoy it, right?

Why'd you buy it if you didn't like the game?

Minnesota? I think I saw this in an auction

To be fair, the OP never wrote that they bought the game... why so harsh??

Someone just recently dropped off a 100% working video game in my driveway because they just wanted it out of their basement and they know I dabble around with vids & pins.

I don't particularly like the game that was gifted to me, but I'm not complaining.....

Yes, these things still do happen.

Feel free to drop it off in my doorway.

Trade with your local peeps for something that appeals to you. I love generic conversion cabs, they're like blank slates for me. I would put a game in there that appeals to me and make it clean and nice. Technically Tekken / soul calibur has a dedicated cab, but none of the others did, so go nuts!

Sell the boards, keep it a vertical, redo/refab the cabinet, throw one of those gajillion in 1 thing-a-ma-bobs in there that is focused on vertical games.

Have fun.

Easiest thing to do would likely be sell the board and recoup the money, then put a pandoras box in it, then freshen it up cosmetically. Then you can either just enjoy it that way or trade it off to somebody. Heck I'm sure there's some sick sap out there who'd trade their Tekken for a Gal's Panic III.
