What do 5 games that have been on the front porch of a trailer in the Mojave Desert

look like after 20 years..... AKA Andys80s is out of his fu@&1n9 mind Adventure

I have not had much to do with picking things up for a bit as I have not had space for anything.
But with the wife out of town for a few weeks I decide its road trip time!

Here was the add on CL

tempest, zaxxon, marble madness, star castles. plus one more. need screens and alittle work. call roni 760 378 ****

And I now bring you the games (After 500+ mile round trip through the worst hail storm I have EVER driven through!)

As for the low down they were all trash! I parted the Zaxxon on the spot and left the carcass in the yard. Surprisingly the Tempest actually worked. The MM had the best cabinet and I was told that is was from the Penny Arcade at Disneyland. It has a brass asset tag on the front that maybe someone can help confirm. I want to say that I remember these from back in the day but can't with certainty.

The other 3 showed signs of life and being that the MM had the best cabinet I went to work on it. Monitor had a blown fuse and was unplugged. Got the game running after doing all the usual tricks and stealing the g07 chassis out of the Xevious. After a good cleaning and I do mean GOOD its not too bad...needs new rollers and berings but not bad. The others....well the Xevious is trash and the Tempest will need a new cabinet. I am not sure what to do with the Star Castle. Its not working at the moment but I don't think it will take much as it has neck glow and the board lights up. The cab on the other hand is borderline. Ill decide Monday and post.

The Penny Arcade at Disneyland never had any 80's games to my knowledge. The Penny Arcade consisted of vintage 50's era stuff like flip movie viewers, strength testers, etc.

The main arcade at Disneyland was Starcade... two levels of arcade awesomeness that has now gone the way of the Peoplemover.... which was also awesome (well, at least the Tron part).

It has a brass asset tag on the front that maybe someone can help confirm.

Could we see a pic of that?

I would love to say "awesome find" but the truly awesome thing is that the Tempest works. After all it has been through, sitting outside all that time, how is that even possible? The other games, yeah, maybe but a Tempest? Wow! Just, wow!

Nice save on the Marble Madness though. Looks like she cleaned up pretty good. Also seems like you got a nice parts haul. They just need "screens" and some cleaning huh? I had some old window screens, would those have worked? lol. I just love how people don't know what they are talking about sometimes. Thanks for pulling these in from the wild wild outdoors.

Confuses me why he did not sell these a long time ago? Tons of neglect and nonsense.

Thanks for saving them!

Hell of a lot better than them still sitting outside getting even fuglier than they already are.
Yeah, I guess from a purely 'game RESCUE' point of view, it's awesome... Admire the zeal. But, I still don't know how much $$ (EDIT: I see the cost, my bad, holeee moses!...) was spent on the games, not to mention the gas expense from Long Beach to the desert, and back... Would be kinda nice to know where they were, if we are going to join in on the 'adventure'. OP even basically stated he was out of his mind.;) Still think some of y'all need your heads examined:D And, you notice nobody from out my way was scrambling to get these treasures... (I'm in Palm Springs)

Was there any explanation as to why the games were left outside?

The woman was divorced in 92 and moved out to the desert because she could afford it. From the size of it I am guessing it was a single bedroom trailer....the porch was covered but it didn't help much with all the crap (including critters) that was inside them.

I used to live in ridgecrest, fibonacci is from there (haven't seen him on here in ages though)

oh, and next time I visit my grandma in long beach, I'm coming over. :)

I can see that grabing games of this sort would not be for everyone....folks that have no ability to restore/repair them. I enjoy this as much if not more than playing most of them so it works for me!

Some of us are still here! (sobs)

I almost want to think those *might* be the old 'Sandwiches N' Things' machines, but there was never a MM at the place. They had 80-81 stuff.

My aunt and her family (husband and kids) live in Ridgecrest. so I suppose I have a reason to swing by.

Is there anyplace in the entire town that has a little arcade of some type?
