What DE Game was 1US-34?

Where do you want me to start with this mystery? I've spent years trying to figure this out with zero luck. I guess I'll do some bullet points.

  • 75% of the tags I've encounters do not have any sub numbers written on them. That area is literally blank.
  • I've spotted both Data East and Technos games with this exact tag.
  • This tag was being used as far back as 1984 for the second generation Dynamo produced Data East cabinets for games like Commando, Karate Champ etc.
  • The limited run of second generation Data East cabinets brought over from Japan also have these tags.
  • We don't know who installed those tags on these machines. With the knowledge that many of these grey cabinets were manufactured by Wood Systems Inc usually for 3-KOAM we don't know if the tags were installed by WSI or 3-KOAM or Data East and Technos themselves.
  • Some variations of these cabinets were sold on the open market or possibly sold to a larger distributor. Toki by Fabtek was shown off in this cabinet.
Unless there is some huge movement of Data East fans that post up photos and we do a collaborative comparison, I don't expect any of us can make any kind of headway as to what these mean.

Some examples of what I've been talking about:

Dynamo produced 2nd Generation cabinet:

Dynamo produced WWF Wrestlefest with similar tag. I know i have photos of the identical technos branded 1US tag somewhere.

I have a few of these with unreadable numbers.

If you have access to the game, open the controller panel and see what's underneath, the old hole pattern will be a good way to eliminate some titles…

Ghostbusters is a totally different control panel.

To be fair just about every single game from the data East lineup from 1986 to 1990 came in that cabinet and it's subsequent variations.

From what I can tell the only games that weren't bundled in 3-KOAM/WSI cabinets was caveman Ninja (even though the flyer actually shows it in a curve-less marquee cabinet), bloody wolf and nitro ball.

Commando, Karate Champ, Kung Fu Master and a number of others are second generation Data East Cabinets (First gen are the wood-grain DECO cabs). Second generation cabs had these tags too.

My question is not to list every single game that came in this cabinet, my question is if anyone knew if the –34 meant a specific game. I know how to look up what games Data East made.

The short answer is no. The long answer would be the only way to answer this would be to scour the net and have others contribute their tags to find out but again, Other companies like Technos also used similar tags with the 1US designation.

Thanks, yeah when you posted that it wasn't known, I knew it 1000% wasn't known. ;)

I don't think this is an impossible endeavor but unfortunately I think that the lack of information means that there will always be numbers and games that will never be deciphered.

So far we haven't even been able to decipher one game yet.
