Maybe it's just me, but when someone states that a game is "game room ready" my thinking is that the game is very clean and either fully restored or in like new condition.

I keep seeing people placing ads stating that a game is "game room ready" and the games are beat to hell.

Are these people just bullshitting or am I wrong in my definition of game room ready?

What would you consider "game room ready"?

I would expect the same as you do fully restored, very clean,FULLY shopped IE:All bulbs changed out for new ones, cap kit, flyback, new CPO if necessary, rebuilt joystick and buttons, new locks and keys, new levelers if needed, new sideart,Full vaccum and wipedown inside and out. This is the same treatment I give to every game I get so thats what I'd expect to be gameroom ready.

Fully functional, cleaned from top to bottom inside and out, doesnt stink.

that's what i would say too. 100% operational, and a cleaned cabinet, all lights and what not working. cabinet doesn't have to be mint but no cracks, broken pieces, and no water damage.

I agree, working 100% and clean.

Fully restored or like new condition is usually added to the description if that's how the game is.

It's just a sellers phrase, ultimately it doesn't mean anything because it's an opinion, not a fact. It's like saying "This is the best multigame money can buy!" or whatever. It literally doesn't mean anything because it can't be proven or disproven. It's just empty talk. It also helps sell games.

I've seen people with gamerooms that if the game does anything at all, it's 'gameroom ready'. The joystick may only half work, half the buttons work, you have to short two wires together to get a credit, the monitor has jail bars on it, dirt dust grime spider webs all over the game, and it's in their gameroom and they play it a lot. "Gameroom ready"

That is very true. Everyones version is slightly different.

Game room ready means 100% working. As long as it works it can be beat to hell.

Isn't this the same as saying the game works/plays correctly?

I hate the term "gameroom ready" and would not use it at all. I rather describe the game as it works 100%, pics would speak for the condition.

This food can be eaten! Could be rotten but you COULD stlil eat it! LOL!!!

People use it because it really does help sell the games.

"This machine works 100% and plays correctly"

or

"This is a fantastic machine, everything works on it just like it used to, and it's ready to go into your gameroom!"

Just sounds better. When you're selling something people want to envision what they're buying, the farther you get off into their imagination the more likely they are to buy it.

When I buy old cars, I love the ones that say "Ready for Restoration". What the he!! does that mean? Have you ever heard "Hey Bill, wanna restore that one next? Naw... that one ain't quite ready for restoration."

You can pretty much take every word of an advertisement, including the price, with a grain of salt.

You guys are all spoiled. Not all gamerooms are in houses. The "gameroom ready" doesn't always mean "ready for YOUR gameroom", but most likely means "you can stick it on location and make money off of it".

As for my own personal "gameroom ready" status, it will change as my gameroom location changes. Currently I live in an apartment, and have limited space and resources for cosmetic restoration, so "gameroom ready" means I have done all of the interior work and it's ready to be stuck in there and played. Once I move to a house (hopefully next month) and have a garage to work in, my "gameroom ready" status will most likely consist of games that are 100% done (or as far as they can go if certain art isn't available)...

You're absolutely right. That's a funny phrase, isn't it?

"Well, it's almost 3p.m., I guess the bell's getting ready to ring"

LOL

Game room ready depends on the buyer. I know Exidy is very particular for his gameroom as far as visually and working, but clean and working is my version.
