What monitor did the Tempest cabaret take? How many different kinds of XY color monitors were smaller than 19"? Any idea how much they go for?

I don't have an answer for your question, but are you looking to expand your repair work into vector games? If so, that's awesome.

You would think there would be a device that could adapt the output of a vector board to a raster monitor. There must be a way to do it given that MAME does it.

Only smaller color vector I've seen is the 13" amplifone used in the pat9k

Maybe that's where I remember seeing one. I've been batting around the idea of making a short stack of test monitors, one vector one raster, for the bench and rigging them to do both B&W and color. A color XY mini would be ideal, but I wouldn't have the heart to bust up a PAT9000 to get one. Might have to go with the 19" instead.

Or I guess I could get a PAT9000. :D

get a 13" SVGA monitor and get a vegtorvga card...

mh

That's a good idea. My only concern would be if the VGA adapter cards (because I'd get two, one for raster and one for vector) would treat a bad sync or color output differently than a CRT, i.e. if the sync or color signal was a bit 'off' (or not driving as well as it should) coming from the board-under-test if the VGA adapters would erroneously accept the signal anyway. Essentially I would miss a faulty video driver on the board.

Maybe I worry too much.

The prototype color Vectrex had a 9" screen... I got to see it before they got it back working at one of the video game shows a while back.

Not really on subject but kinda cool. ;)
