What became of TwinGalaxies?

I just dont understand TG's weird ass selection of non-default settings for their competitions. Operators mostly ran their games at default settings, thats what most gamers are used to.. I just dont get it

As for the link for the stats, I wonder were that site is getting it's data, as I can tell you for Aurcade it's *way* off. In fairness, it's likely way off for TG, too.

It's seems very common for compete.com's stats to be off by a 1/3 compared to alexa and quantcast (which are not perfect themselves of course). For sites with lower volume though, quantcast just says 'we cant tell' which is probably best...

Has anyone been in contact with Walter Day? I wrote him this week and he didn't email back (and he always has in the past).

Talked with him at the show on Saturday. Sounds like the guy was gonna be busy for the week. I asked him the big question "what is in the future for Twin Galaxies". He did not want to divulge to much to some idiot that self-published a book and frosts his hair. :D

To keep the competitions from lasting many, many hours. Any game without a fixed # of men or fixed end to the game is likely marathonable by someone out there and in many cases, many games by many players.

In Mark Alpiger's tourneys he keeps the default settings in place but times each game for 1 hour and then ends the game/score, rather than crank up the settings to either fixed lives or hardest settings or both.

Either way is fine with me but if you put Galaga in a competitive tourney for instance with default settings and no time limit, and the tourney was only one day long, no one would get to play.

Links to important partners and contributing organizations
At this time the IVGHOF Board of Directors has decided to postpone the Big Bang 2011 event scheduled for the first weekend in August due to the lack of adequate revenues to operate the event and to continue operations to reach the goals of establishing the Hall of Fame

So? TG is on a list of partners. That still doesn't say anything. TG and Big Bang/IVGHOF are separate entities. Star Worlds Arcade is also among the "partners and contributing organizations," but Pat and Glenn (the owners) have no financial ties to it either.

He went down to E3 after the show in Seattle. There are pics of him and fans at E3 on his Facebook page.
