i just found another in a pwn store and its now tetris which looks like it all fit right into it but i can see a space design on the side that tellms me the cab was not originally tetris. The numbers on the tag are Model 51000 and serial number tts1225 not sure what to do...buy or pass. Im not a tetris fan but if its a cool older game like i like id consider lowballing them to buy the cabinet and working monitor (yes the tetris game works perfect and they want $250 for me) LMK what you guys think

thats odd....its a picture of some sort on the sides....wonder why. whats a stock original tetris look like on the side maybe thats it....that would explain why everything looked legit other than the space pictures...odd

Some conversion kits included new tags to put on the cabinets.

Without a picture of the cabinet, it's impossible to say - and "space scene" could describe any of a dozen Atari games. Look at the pictures of the games on KLOV and see if any look the same, or post some pictures - we can spot an Atari cab just by the shape.

If anything, Tetris is a horizontal Jamma game, so you can plug any of a lot of boards in there without changing any wiring.

Ian, I tried to take pictures but they didnt come out.....sucks where do i look to see the atari games on this forum. Im still new to it and dont know. thanks

If you just go to http://www.arcade-museum.com/, and select search, you can go to an advanced search and look at all Atari games, etc.

Tetris was made by Atari, but there is no telling if the *cabinet* was made by Atari. Tetris was a very popular kit game, and was installed in whatever cabinets were available. Ops converted old games that weren't making money to new games by replacing artwork, boards, and controls. I'm not even sure there was a dedicated cabinet at all for Tetris. The picture on the above site (if you search Tetris) is installed in a Track & Field cabinet.

I think a picture would be awesome...

ok tomorrow ill stop by with the camera and take pictures....hope they come out....but maybe youll be abble to tell just from the shape. Like the two speakers in the front near the coin door...things like that...ill probably end up buying it if i can get it for $100.00 or so.....a working game for that is worth it even if im not the BIGGEST fan. after all who doesnt like tetris once in a while to play?

FOUND IT!!!!!! a game called Space Dual..ever seen it, heard of it, or played it.....Is it a good game? whats it worth and how hard would it be to find the parts to restore it....or would you leave it as tetris...after all its all there there and works perfect....tell me what you guys think????

Space Duel is a vector game. You'd have to replace every last electronic part inside the cabinet to convert it back, the most expensive of which is the vector monitor. It's really a cool game, but didn't do well since it's two player only. It's like a two player Asteroids.

Most of them got robbed for their monitors to keep Tempest and Star Wars running, and usually you see them as Double Dragon. Tetris was popular too...

Space Duel can't be a common game these days, especially how so many got converted or trashed. But, it's a very nice looking cabinet, and if the one you're looking at is in nice shape, and a working Tetris, it would be nice to have around - you could convert it back if you lucked into the parts, or in the mean time, play Tetris or any number of other Jamma games you can plug in.

Ian,

HUMMMMM, now you got me thinkin i want it just to do that swap out jamma games then one day convert it back.....just pick up pieces here and there....with no real rush to finish it. After all i can play tetris till im blue in the face. Well at least this mystery is solved! Thank all!

Space duel was a one or two player game. There were two 1 player games and two 2 player games.
