As for artists and art direction, Capcom of Japan had an absolutely insane core group of illustrators, concept artists and directors. Even pre-CPS2 (which IMO was their strongest art era), they were really good at keeping a very subtle but consistent style across all of their titles. It's very difficult to look at a Capcom DEVELOPED gamee during the CPS-1 and CPS-2 era and not be able to tag it as a Capcom title.

Ultimate GnG was the last true Arthur verson but he showed up in MvC of course. There was also an instance where he showed up in Cannon Spike. Maximo was done by a US team but people often consider him to borrow a few things from Arthur... like the shorts but he's actually a bit more like Trojan or Black Tiger.

I'm not sure if you're trying to say Maximo wasn't a GnG title, but just in case, it actually is a part of the GnG franchise. Hence things like the boxer shorts.

I kinda liked how CAPCOM reused their products.

I thought it was fun--especially their sounds--cause these reminded me of other games. :D

And it provided a bit of continuity with other CPACOM games--creating a CAPCOM universe or something.

I'm suppressed that nobody has mentioned DRAGON'S LAYER yet.

I thought that game was cool.

Would have played it more back in the day; however, the $1.00 start ($0.50 to continue) price kept me playing other games.

I'm saying that it is and it isn't. It plays tribute but really isn't cause Arthur was mostly about throwing stuff. The sword was not a main weapon and Maximo mostly used swords however I think that they used the name because of Gladiator. It's an odd decision which happened before I got there ...Maximo 2.
