What are the Monitor options for an Asteroids Deluxe ???

Just need some advice on what Monitor options there are for Asteroids Deluxe,
Is there a modern day option or is it a case of diggin up an old monitor ???
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You'll need an old monitor. Assuming you have a 19", the two options are:

1) An Electrohome G05 (there are two sub-types of these -801 and -802, either will work but the -801 may require an adapter for the connector)

2) A Wells-Gardner 19V2000. (I think these were original in Ast Deluxe, FWIW)

While there are no new whole XY monitors, new CRTs can still be found (couple hundres bucks, shipped) and installed in a frame with a re-built chassis, giving an almost-new-ish-ness...

Did you acquire a totally monitorless game?

EDIT: Just noticed you are in NZ. Sorry, my comments were US-centric. There were probably other XY monitors common internationally... I just don't know much about them. Still no new ones, though...

In that case, you could also use the 15" versions of these monitors: G05-805 & 15V2000.

I also found this in the B&W Vector Monitor FAQ:

"Many distributors in Australia, in an attempt to reduce the initial shipping cost games, sourced vector monitors locally. That company, Leisure & Allied Industries, made a unique black & white vector monitor design, producing both 14" and 20" monitors. The LAI monitors are NOT plug compatible with any Electrohome or Wells-Gardner vector monitors. I have precious little information on the LAI vector monitors and this document will not focus on them for that reason."

Sounds like if you could find a LAI vector monitor, you might be able to deteremine the pinout and hook it up...

Edit: Some more info here... http://www.andysarcade.de/vec_monitors.html#lai

Another Edit: You can always play on an oscilloscope :)
