Anybody who owns a pin has had to service it at some point or another, its inevitable. What currently needs to be fixed on yours?

Captain Fantastic:
• 1P X00000 Score reel does not reset, leaving the game constantly attempting to reset and never starting a new game (suspected bad coil?)
• Drop target assembly does not consistently reset all 5 at a time, usually 1 or 2 fall back down
• I discovered a big hole punched through the bottom of the machine below the coin bucket. Didnt see that when I bought the game...

Super Mario Bros:
• Flippers are in need of a rebuild (anybody know where to get kits?)
• Shield doesnt pop up during "Invincible" round or any other time during gameplay, but works fine in test mode.
• Backbox lock fell apart

i only have very minor issues right now, thankfully:

- DE star wars:

* random sound issue. gonna have to get the sound board repaired, but for right now i'm just dealing with it.

- starship troopers

* the dmd driver board (i think that's what it's called?) needs swapping out...got a new one for free, just haven't gotten around to installing yet.

- zip-a-doo

* this one needs the most work...got it as a project and so far have gotten the GI working and you can play one game on it without having to fiddle with it, but i know there are two relays that are not working: the game reset (you have to manually adjust it to get it to start a new game) and the score reset (it constantly tries to reset the score and makes an awfully annoying clicking sound).

overall, not too bad. hopefully i won't be adding my TRON to this list anytime soon. LOL.

Apollo 13:
-Already fixed burnt G.I. connectors & broken trough opto board
-Still has some flakiness in the trough...need to check the switches, possibly change some out.
-Needs full topside shop-job...might de-mylar it - haven't decided.

Fish Tales:
-Acid damage on the CPU board...currently troubleshooting and will attempt to fix it.
-Gotta shop it out.

Dracula:
-Already fixed the acid damage...but still have to shop it out.

Road Show:
-Was having a problem w/ the eyes going epileptic crazy...but I think I might have fixed it by reseating some chips....we'll see.
-Having the occasional reset problem and G.I. issue on the power board...I'm sick of trying to fix it, I might just buy a replacement and be done with it.

Super Mario Bros:
-One flasher isn't working...I think a wire broke off a connector
-Was having a problem w/ the sound cutting out...seems to be OK, now...but I suspect some flaky connectors on the audio board.

JP Lost World, belt broke so snagger doesn't work, DMD is dead.

Theatre of Magic, one dead slingshot, half of back box lights lost power, DMD is dead.

How do two DMDs stop working? Parts list started.

royal rumble, right orbit.something is causing the ball not to complete the orbit. to see what it is i have to remove the upper mini playfield.i have never done this and im not sure how.it will be a great learning experience.

Revenge From Mars:
*Needs a bunch of switches
*Needs some bulbs
*Needs at least one flipper rubber so that they match
*Wants a full shop-out but doesn't really need it too badly

Centaur:
*Needs to be restored
*Currently in pieces
*Have a new playfield to swap in
*Say-It-Again doesn't work (probably the SAD chip but not 100% sure)

High Speed:
*Ramp switches need adjustment

Seven-Up:
*Rubber Kit
*Major clean-up

Jolly Roger:
*Rebuild the backbox wiring harness, somebody didn't know what a jones plug was and cut all the wires
*Rubber Kit
*General cleaning
*Strip the paint off of the side that someone did

Fireball (Home Edition):
*Doesn't do anything, bad power board seems to have fried the CPU, will one day get it up and running

I have more pins but I don't really need to do anything else to them.

Aside from my heavy Twister restoration that's still in progress...

  • Freddy needs a drop target replaced
  • Pinball Magic's wand is acting up and occasionally stopping short as it sweeps to the right
  • X-Files needs some new rubbers and both flippers need to be rebuilt
Everything else is cool at the moment.

lots of pinball problems......

bally aladdins castle and gottlieb aquarius - motors keep running. havent tried to fix

banzai run - needs magnet coil attached to carry the ball into the upper playfield and needs totally shopped, waiting till i get more experience before i even start to work on this game

sega twister - opto boards just broke for the coil to shoot the ball into the plunger lane. need to order those

williams junkyard - 1 flipper needs adjusted. cant get the playfield glass out there is a car parked in the way and has a dead battery

thorobred needs a new playfield glass....im embarassed to say i lifted the playfield of the game next to it and the ball jumped out and broke the glass......(at least it wasnt the backglass)

haunted house needs the ground mods done but works and needs playfield cleaned

getaway needs totally shopped out...very dirty but works

ive got alot of small problems.....BUT WHAT IM REALLY STUCK ON.......if anyone wants to give some advice.........i tried posting in the unusual electromechanical forum section and nobody answered me...........anyhow......i can only work on 1 to 2 games at a time at the place where i store my machines.......and right now i am stuck on a old electromechanical gun game made by chicago coin called "commando".....i dont know much about fixing games but with the help of KLOV'ers i have got this machine running and working......HOWEVER....i am in the process of cosmetically restoring it. i am not sure what to do with the 2 pieces on the inside cabinet of the game. (this is a EM gun game that has a black light....similair to a wild kingdom and haunted house made by midway......) and on the inside of the cabinet there are 2 large pieces of plastic that are stapled to the inside cabinet on each side......the plastic looks like it should be clear but its very hazey and scratched and wont clean up.......i have asked a few places and craft stores and nobody has semi stiff clear plastic in a large 3 foot by 1 foot sheet. i was wondering if i could just remove these pieces and not put anything else in their place or if it will affect the playing of the game? i have large sheets of stick on mirror but i think that might make a mirror effect and not work right (seeing double)......does anyone know the purpose of these sheets of clear plastic or can i just remove them and forget about it......the reason i ask is because all other parts on the inside get installed AROUND them.....and i hate to put everything back in and then have to take it all back out again

aside from that.......i am currently happily engulfed in restoring a old dixie narco coca cola machine that i bugged and bugged the owner for and he finally sold it.......it is very dirty but has been stored inside most of its life.....does anyone know somewhere to order parts for coca cola machines......this one is not very very old like the 50's ones.....this is a 1970's one model number 168/99-5
i am just looking to get some nice new clear buttons for it

Funhouse - Flipper EOS switch needs attention.

Twilight Zone - needs everything (got it in a deal at a great price, but still needs work). Parts on their way, but dreading the stripping / redecal.

BSD - Just done with full shop out - remaining issue is the coffin sits too high and interferes with the playfield glass....

Dracula Audio board

It used to be a problem on my terminator... but I swapped it out..

Anyone have one?

Oh, I forgot to mention a pinball project that eats away at my time (its fun but it distracts me from my machines) is PinWiki.com, always a project, not really an issue.

With the exception of AFM, which is in the middle of a playfield restoration, everything I have plays fine and doesn't need any work from a gameplay perspective.

TSPP and Whirlwind need to be torn down and cleaned. They're not horrible, but they could look a little better. I keep putting it off because I end up working on other people's games. Since they play fine, I guess it really isn't a huge problem.

Nothing.....fix it as the problems come.

Always fixing other peoples stuff though

need to drill lock on lethal weapon 3 and reset high scores, should level out as well.

need to replace coil and associated transistors on blackhole and look into issue with chip that does scoring/ score displays.

haunted house need to eplace nasty funk old roll over wire form switches.
/ vubrating tunbler olish.

Mas god of war needs some pop targets replaced.

counter force power suplpy board header pins are loose again? tons of solder this time maybe?
look into odd score diplays some times? clan reseat those connectors for that.

hook needs 1 micro switch replaced. one gate replaced. and a bunch of the play fild was reassembled incorrectly by me, so balls get stuck alot etc. needs a little tlc.

Last Action Hero needs put back together. Tore it down topside to shop it.

Pinbot is in a zillion pieces, in the midst of touching up and clearing the playfield.

^^Holy shit, that's one sentence yet hours of work :(

Super Mario Bros:
• Flippers are in need of a rebuild (anybody know where to get kits?)
• Shield doesnt pop up during "Invincible" round or any other time during gameplay, but works fine in test mode.

Pinball resource can get you almost anything you need for gottlieb system 3.

almost none - had a pinball party 2 weeks ago and spent more than a week checking all my machines so they're all playable :)

things that need to be done:
- have a Black Hole that doesn't work at all
- AFM needs less powerful coils

optional things:
- new cabinet decals on AFM (traded some things for set of decals recently, so will install them although I was happy with the cabinet as is)
- TZ and SC are next to be shopped again.. but that's not in a hurry

Black Knight - Random Switch error
Revenge From Mars - Lamp column 7B is out after UFO LED install - game works fine though
Breakshot - Fires 2 balls every time
Hyperball - Well, it's Hyperball
