So I'm about to have a number of 80s and 90s games out for the public to use (more about that coming soon), and I'm thinking of coin mechs.

I'm looking for .984 coin mechs that won't accept a quarter and will be as reliable as possible. I don't care about saving a few $. I (and others) just need life to be simple.

So, to the extent I can, are Imonex V9 units the way to go? It seems a lot of people like them, though Ken Layton (RIP) in his writings here didn't seem impressed by them.

When would someone want to use, say a SuzoHapp instead? https://na.suzohapp.com/products/coin_doors/42-3053-100

For the Imonex or any other mech, where vendors do you suggest? I see prices really vary. For the Imonex 120-900-08:

https://www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-1438-imonex-120-900-08-v9-984-token-insert-3-5-in.aspx $25.11
https://twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1625 $29.90
https://www.betsonparts.com/amusement-redemption/imonex-984-token-acceptor.html $39.91
https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/CM984 $44.99
https://parts.icegame.com/products/coin-mech-984-120-900-08-aa0177 $50.00 - Just using them as an example, I'd never think of them as a general parts supplier!

So $25 to $50, or $25 to $45 if you don't count the manufacturer that really isn't in the business of selling them.
Of course I didn't compare shipping costs or reputation, etc.

support the arcade focused TwistedQuarter? or?

FWIW, I buy from Kleen Rite frequently and always been happy with them. The Imonex's are very good. I have a ton of them in games and they rarely jam. The only downside I run into is that are there are some games like Wonder Wheel that use the middle coin peg. There is a hole there that you can screw in a peg but the plastic doesn't hold the threads very well. Same situation if you break off one of the plastic pegs and then try to screw a peg in.

I used the Imonex mechs on my route. They were dependable and much easier to clean. Their rejection rate was low, and we didn't have many problems with them.

I found someone selling them by the case and got a much better price but that was back in 2012 or 13 years ago - ACK!
