I was wondering what you guys are reading and recommend to any other collector. This could include magazines, price guides, technical guides, blogs or whatever else you can think of. Even if you have any good "Man Cave" stuff that would be interesting as well.

I read game room magazine.lurk around here reading random stuff. As far as price guides I think there all garbage I think price is based on availablity and desire for me distance is important to.

Jawhn,
Yes shame on me for not using the search on books. I am really more interesting in magazines at the moment but while using the search I really could only see one that being gameroom.com. So are there any more magazines available if so can you only get it off of there website or does Barnes and Noble carry them?

A great magazine pertinent to our hobby is Retro Gamer, an English magazine about old games. It covers old consoles, computers and arcade games. It can be found in Barnes and Nobles bookstores, or downloaded from the iTunes store. Back issues can even be had on a compilation DVD.

Just about every issue has something arcade related, the current issue on the stands has an interview with Larry DeMar (Defender, Robotron, Blaster, Adams Family and Funhouse pinball among others).

other great nostalgia reads are "electronic games" magazine issues if you can find them. this was the original magazine that eventually became EGM. i have 3 or 4 issues. it's pretty fun to read all the old articles.

Read the archives of the rec.games.video.arcade.collecting newsgroup. You can do this many ways. Google Groups is one way.

If you're at all into pinball, rec.games.pinball.

I might sound like a complete idiot, but Talon what are you trying to say about are there enought letters yet?

I think he's referring to this board's rule that your post must be at least 10 letters.

While its not reaading.. (mostly)

I would really recommend the DVD set by Randy Fromm on arcade repair.

http://randyfromm.com/shopping/

I just got it the other day and its a wealth of info.

If you buy it.. tell him you want the KLOV $150 price.

I just bumped into this and I was wondering if it's any good. Is the KLOV price if you order it online or email him? or are you pulling our leg?

Thanks for the mention! I ended up shooting him an email and he hooked me up. I literally just stumbled upon it because I just got a stockpile of stuff and was looking for some education on the whole run of it besides lurking around the boards here. Can't wait!

Give him a call and ask for it.. he'll hook you up.

Mike
