I saw an ad for this on CL the other day and called because I thought the $2,000 price tag was a misprint, since it doesn't work. But, they were actually serious!

I let them know I already own one 100% working, and in really good condition, but wouldn't sell mine for more than $1,200. I politely let them know that their prices were way off, and that they needed to do some research.

And then I saw this today...and it is the same one. What idiots!!!

I wonder if some people really are just clueless, or just plain stoopid! :)

Well, of course I'd let it go for more! :) :) :)

I was just trying to point out that I personally wouldn't try to "gouge" someone for their $$$.

I believe in being reasonable, and not ripping people off just because they'll pay it.

My loss...but oh well!

I knew what you ment, I would not list it for more than $1200 not take more for it :) I just had to have a little fun with it.

There's one on Craigslist around here for $1500.... pretty lame. They usually go for $500-600 working. I got mine for $80 (it wasn't working though).

Ultimately, people can sell things for whatever they want out of them. They're not 'stoopid' if they have a different opinion on value than you; if they end up getting that out of it, you might have to re-evaluate who the 'stoopid' one is.

You have to get to a point in your life where you don't mind what other people do with theirs.

I've been waiting on a local paman that someone did a half assed job of restoring to come down.
Probably been 5 months now on ebay, started at like $1500, now it's at $699.

I'll consider it at $250 or so with what i'm told is a laundry list of wrong doings that have been done to it.

What i mind more than the idiots asking too much, are the morons that refer you to Buy It Now ebay ads that have not sold, nor will they. It's one thing to think something is worth more than it really is, it's another to refer people to something that provides absolutely no proof of anything.
For example "hey selling this ms pacman cocktail, they sell on ebay for $1999, but i'll let it go for $1499".
Sweet, sure i'll take it for $1000 more than it's worth.

I would have to agree, it's all in how much someone wants it. That's what drive's market value on anything. Ask what you want depending how soon you want to get rid of it. Want to hang on to it for years...ask $2000. Want to sell today...ask $300. Nuff said. Typically I need mine gone today.

Maybe it's the same person trying to sell the Moonwalker game that "does not come with a case" for $nearly $1500?

Wow!!! That beats the Baby ad!

Of course you guys have a point, if someone will pay for it, then take it. But, I wouldn't consider it "market price" just because one seller is selling for that price. I would consider an average of the market as a whole to be the "value." But, of course we're talking extrinsic, not intrinsic value. As we all know, sentiments can go a long way, and get people to do stoopid things (like even considering paying $2,000 for a non-working Baby Pac)!!!

I think we can all agree that there certainly does come a point when a price can be completely outrageous!
