What arcade world record do you think you could get?

So while I was in Twin Galaxies looking up Rally-X records (see related post), I looked up a few other games and it got me thinking, based on the Twin Galaxies records, what games do you think you're pretty close to or could get a record with some practice?

For me, Space Invaders on the arcade platform, record is 55k. I am positive beyond a doubt I could get that record with a little practice. If you figure you get about 10K points per resetting, that means I'd need to reset them 5 times. I'm way older now than the arcade days, but I've reset them 5 time plenty of times.

Now Deluxe Space Invaders is 425k. And this is a MUCH harder game. I don't see how someone possibly did that. That's a remarkable score. With some practice, I should be able to knock off 3rd place of 30k, but that leaves me almost 400k behind the record. No chance at that one.

So, how about you?

Only 1 that I am fairly certain I can get........tron I have been getting 1 million on my first life the last 3 times lately, then I quit. Bummer with tron is it's a 14 hour proposition to get the WR. Oh, and great swordsman (they add it to TG at my request and nobody has the WR yet, I am pretty good at it though)

Tatsumi Speed Buggy : Off road track. Need to put the machine back together first!

Been thinking about trying TMNT lately. Just need to memorize the patterns and stuff, it would be an easy one I think.

Defender for me if I could stay awake that long =).

Possibly Robotron also with some practice. Put up 2.5 million last night

don't you have to play robotron for like 3 days straight or something to break the record?

I've beat the TG score for Crazy Kong twice now (both kill screens). It's a relatively recent one though, only added within the last couple years.

I really think the first two twin galaxies high scores on Space Invaders Deluxe are bogus. The third place high score is absurdly lower than those other two. Let me explain why I feel this way.

The first place score is (supposedly) 425,230, second place is 399,990, and third place is 30,460. The first two scores would make plenty of sense if they weren't six figure scores. A score of ~42,000 and a score of ~39,000 would sound far more like legit high scores when you consider 3rd place is ~30,000. How could no one in the last 30 years have posted a score in between 30K and 390K especially when you can see that a ton of verified scores were posted 2007 and 2009?

Not that this means anything, but SID only holds 5 digit scores. Of course rolling the score is technically possible on any game, but do I believe somebody rolled that score 4 times considering that games difficulty? ...I'm not convinced.

I've only been playing SID for a few weeks, and even with nailing the difficult 1000 point bonuses on the first two stages, I've still only managed to post 6400, which puts me at #11. I really think beating Steve Weidlich's score of 30,460 qualifies you as the record holder in my opinion.

With all that said, nothing would please me more than to have someone prove everything I just said wrong and humbly shut me up :)

I can beat the P-47 Phantom Fighter record, I've just never submitted a recording.
Its not really a popular game, so its probably more of a case of just owning the game making me one of the worlds best players! :)

What's your best score on MAME now?

As to the OP's question, my best scores on Ikari Warriors beats the TG record.

1.48M is my current high. I was really in a groove, then I had a major slip up and lost to Drunkenski. Still cant believe it ended like that, I can beat him in my sleep.

The one s I'm pretty sure I can get are
...
APB
...

ooohh..
We need a little competition then-
I can beat the standing APB record each and every time.

My monitor has been wigging out now and then, so I haven't played for a while.

Oh- and my other beatable record is
CRAZY CLIMBER :)

more and more often.

How far can you get starting from Day 1?

Robotron if I could stay awake that long. When I had the game at home I'd roll it at 10,000,00 and turn it off all the time. Quick 2.5 hour time killer. The game gets to the point to where it doesnt get more difficult so you can almost go on autopilot after about the 24th wave.

Defender would be another one, if I could stay awake!

They might be, I don't know. My recollection from ~30 years ago isn't so good. There are repetitive patterns (I'm sure you've read about most of them). Like most other games (Gorf, DK, Pacman) I can't remember my scores from BITD.

To see some current WR players (Bill? SOrry don't remember his name) play Asteroids and Joust for days, I'm no longer sure some of them aren't real.

Of course there are some bogus ones, I'm just not ready to count SID as bogus.

Polaris is my goal. Last week I scored almost 23,00. Second place is almost 26,00 and the WR is just over 38,000. I just need a camcorder and tripod.
