What arcade company could you fill an arcade with

1. Atari

2. Williams

3. Centuri (My personal fav to collect)

Hey, it's another Centuri fan! It's great to see that company getting some recognition.

My list would be:

1. Atari (HUGE variety of games: spinner, trackball, vector, raster, etc.)
2. Centuri (Made quite a few games, good variation yet very underrated)
3. Midway (Lots of well-known classics like Ms. Pac or Galaga)

Atari is a no brainer it has lots of good games to choose from but I would say Taito is not a one trick pony when it comes to a diverse line up either. Sure lots of joystick games but they also lots of genres covered and games with track balls, spinners, light guns, and some healthy classics to make a cool line up. But I likes me some arkanoid so i might be biased.

Qix
Zoo Keeper
Jungle Hunt
Ice Cold Beer
Elevator Action
Zeke's Peak
Arkanoid
Bubble Bobble
Operation Wolf
Rastan
Double Dragon
Puzzle Bobble
G Darius

Epos games!!

You know It's got a large list of games: :D

Boardwalk Casino
The Glob

And last but not least.. Super Glob!!

Ok lets get serious now,

1) Atari

2) Williams

3) Midway

4) Centuri

BTW Nintendo games rock too. There just isn't enough of them to fill an arcade. :(

if i had to choose, it'd be Atari first, followed by Midway, then maybe Nintendo. Never been much of a williams fan, but thats because i just never played them bitd.
I'd go Midway first, if they'd had a few more vectors.

my pick

As old as I am, I should be with the golden age crew but I just love the silver age games so much better through the late 80's-90's.

I think that every other company has a big huge hole in their portfolio. This is all IMHO

Konami - no good fighters, maybe only one good driver. (GTI-Club) They have a great variety of other games although. You get their music games also, nice pick...
Capcom - no drivers or deluxe cabs, just the best fighter and adventure games.
Atari - only golden age stuff, nothing good in the silver age... 3D???
SNK - lots of great games but still only in a narrow range of timeline and genre.
Midway - always over the top stuff. Ultimately their fighters suck.
Nintendo - only their classic stuff is cool but that gets old quick.
Taito - had many great games but I believe that they didn't do the best in the 3D age.
Namco - they have a great great portfolio of games. They dominated in the golden age and 3D age but seem to be less strong in the Silver age games.

Sega hands down... Drivers, Sims, fighters, gun games... puzzle etc... If you are going to fill an arcade with only one manufacturer only... it's got to be Sega. Imagine an arcade with even the most simple classic games like Zaxxon to, VF, Daytona to the quirky Scratching DJ, Monkeyball, Bass Fishing, HOTD etc... Their Deluxe machines were the best... from Moving sitdown Outrun to G360.

With Sega you get:
* most variety of genres covered
* some of the best examples per genre
* it crosses the span of timeline (maybe a little weaker in the golden age)
* huge grand gaming experiences

of course this is only if COST WAS NOT AN ISSUE. Sega does NOT give you the best bang for your buck.

Wow good call I am on board with your call on Sega. You didn't mention any of the colour vectors or their line up of pins either. these might not be atari or bally/williams quality respectifuly but still plenty fun.

I'm in 100% agreement with this. Sega did it BIG even back in the day.. Afterburner cockpit was sooo mind-blowing when it came out.

1.) Capcom - More hit games than I can count. You could literally fill an arcade with just their fighting games.

2) Konami - Great side scrollers and shooters! Contra,Lifeforce,TMNT,Simpsons,Gradius, etc.

3) Williams - Great games and equally great looking cabs! Loved the cab art...Sinistar,Bubbles,Robotron,Joust,and the awesome Moon Patrol.

4) Midway - Classic games! Galaga,Pac-Man,Ms Pac-Man,the MK series, the list goes on and on.Plus they had the BEST looking cocktail cabs, bar none!

5) Nintendo - Great games and cabs! DK,DK Jr,Punch-Out,PC-10,and of course the mighty Mario Bros. widebody!

6) Atari - More classic games, many with wonderful looking cabs just like Williams.Food Fight,Dig Dug,Rolling Thunder,Asteroids, just to name a few.

7) Data East - Had some cool titles like Capt. America and the Avengers,Bad Dudes,Karnov,Ring King, and Robocop to name a few.

8) Taito - Not a ton of just kick ass games, but they did have a lot of solid ones.Double Dragon 1 and 2,Elevator Action,Rastan,Jungle King,10 Yard Fight, etc. While not the best looking or most unique,I always did like their cabs.

9) Sega - Never was a big Sega fan,but they did have versatile portfolio of games. From racing to fighting...whatever genre of game you wanted to play, you can bet that Sega made a game for it.

10) Centuri - Had some cool games,but not a ton I can think of.Time Pilot,Swimmer,Gyruss,Phoenix.

Honorable Mention.Universal. This company had a few games that I liked, but that's it.Everytime I think of Universal I think of that God awful Mr.Do series.
