well $35 in the form of a auction won mk2 cab and the stripper is Citristrip. All thanks to this thread :)

left side is faded but it already has a home with the right front and center. Still has some work to be done, ran out of brake cleaner.. I have wanted a mk2 for so long, now I own one :)

It's amazing what lies beneath the black paint on some of these cabs. Yours came out great!
It reminds me of the Food Fight cabinet in my garage. Same story, great vinyl underneath black paint.

So many MK cab's became Bowling / golden tee's. what's your plans for the CP? my recent MK cab pickup was butchered into a golden tee i'm contemplating patching the hole lucky for me i had 1 perfect mk4 cp and a only minor damaged mk1.

how thick was the paint you removed and how long did you leave the stripper to do the nasty?

looks great btw :D

that chainsaw in the back has me a little worried tho ;-)

also did you lay her down first and whisper sweat nothings in her ear?

not sure what im doing with cp yet, was thinking patching but im not sure. I did it all standing up. paint was very thin, I pretty much went all or nothing. Started at the top and spread stripper over the whole side of the cab then after 1-2 min started to remove with plastic scraper, then simple green then another quick scraper round then brake cleaner. the chainsaw was incase I messed it up ;)

awesome job, the paint on my mk1 seems really thick, like a couple millimeters. i wasn't sure if it was possible to do it standing up, now i know. :D

you even scored the bill extractor = WIN

Hey, i may still have a good looking MKII metal CPO in my shop! I can look for it if you are interested.

Looks great! Congrats! MK2 is my personal favorite of the MK series and I've always loved the side art....just looks bad ass. I had very good success with removing a horrendous paint job from a dedicated MK1 cabinet last fall. I also used Citristrip and it worked like a charm. The cab I had previously was horribly faded and getting the better cab helped push me to finish work on the MK1.

I have a CP, Wiring harness and board for sale in the for sale section. If shipping the CP it would be list price plus actual shipping costs to get it to you.

I'm wondering if I should try this on my Atari Football. The previous owner painted over the woodgrain areas with black paint. Fortunately he taped off the artwork. I asked him why he did it and he said the woodgrain didn't look good. I don't know if that means it was damaged or it didn't fit with his decor.
