what a free delivered Jr. Pac-Man looks like (galaxian cab?)

my latest score, a free smelly Jr. Pac-Man conversion cabinet... my guess is a galaxian cabinet but i'm not positive, delivered

i did spend a few hours helping an operator buddy clean out a small damp storage unit (hence the smell) so that was the cost (although i would have helped him anyway)

artwork is all beat, control panel was crap, cabinet is musky/mold smelly, but i cleaned it up today and let it bake in the sun for a few hours... we'll see

i don't know what to do with this cabinet yet, i might pass it along, but i want to test the monitor (bad burn in, satans hollow maybe) and it'd be cool to jumpstart a galaxian restoration but i have too many projects as it is, as well as a galaxian cocktail project

boards and manual were stored indoors so thats good, but i have no desire to have a jr pac conversion around so i'll probably store or trade off the boards

i think the main reason tempered glass is broken is mishandling... granted i wouldn't recommend long term storage on concrete as the likelihood that things will shift are increased over time... but a temporary resting spot for a few quick pictures and then off to safe storage before any harm is done proved harmless

the key to tempered glass is surface tension:

and concrete can scratch the surface easily if not handled CAREFULLY

(cool video even if you don't care about this topic, prince rupert's drops)

and you're definitely right, and the advice is well-taken... luckily i haven't broken any valuable or junk like this yet

riptor, i wish it were, but the textured vinyl under the kickplate sticker leads me to believe galaxian... can anyone confirm? or anything else i should look for? (all inside tags are gone, stamp in cab is 9704

thanks

edit: and the metal panel is definitely galaxian with its original holes uncovered... joystick was added between slot for 2-way and button... though that doesn't mean anything about the cabinet, and the wood part beneath apears to be from a central joystick/no button game, no holes through the wood for galaxian's 2-way

the kit I am pretty sure is for pac series(or super pac). But your wiring harness connector looks like its been replaced so it could have been rewired.

yeah looks like the connector was replaced, manual does list the pac series cabinets only, did any other cabs have white vinyl on the back or under the kickplate art? even the bottom of the bottom of the cabinet has textured white vinyl...

i dont see yellow paint anywhere

Yes, the textured sides would indicate a galaxian cab. Doesnt really matter, at this point you can make it whatever you want :)

I would like to have a Jr. Pac, especially a free one. For years now, I have been swapping my PCB into either my Pac or Ms. Pac when I want to play it. If the cabinet was salvageable, I would sand down and paint the sides blue and probably keep the front sticker if it looks ok. Your parts look good except the CP and there are tons of those around.

well of course, but whenever possible returning it to original is my MO... ie if i want a pac-man i'd rather have an original pac-man cabinet...

that being said, saving it from the dump definitely gives me more free will than buying another collector's galaxian or something... i could put a 60-in-1 in it with a vga monitor and making some quick cash for projects worthy of the time and money... and i wouldn't really feel that bad about it (actually i'm considering it)

if anyone wants the crappy jr. pac bezel or marquee for a project you can have them... otherwise i'll use the glass (the art isn't worth saving imho), or the supposedly working board that i havent tested, or manual, i'd sell or just keep in my collection... (and the blue buttons and yellow stick if someone would want them)

i have a galaxian pcb, marquee, and the cpo is 40 from thisoldgame, sideart is 150... then a bezel and joystick at the very least... hmm
