Picked up my favorite motorcycle game that I played growing up, Super Hang On.

Works (and I love the stereo sound on this game), but monitor needs work, some handlebar work (brake cable is broken and accelerator is stuck at some unknown position) and it needs some cabinet work.

I've attached some pics of it right when looking at it in the garage from the pickup, had to drill out the side PCB door cover and then use a screwdriver to remove the front coin door lock to access the service panel (the manual was inside the game as well)

Ground plug is missing, so that will be the first thing to be repaired (amazing how many people get rid of the ground plug), its not like electricity is dangerous or anything :)

The monitor pictures are bad because there is a glass piece in front that is loose, dirty and has some dirty spots inside in the center. I'm hoping the black vertical lines and wavy lines is just a cap kit fix for the monitor.

I need to buy some security screwdrivers to take this apart (a lot of the bolts for the plastic shroud are security (square) screws).

I had a chance to pick one up for $150 about a year ago and passed on it. It was in good shape and had all the stickers. I'm still kicking myself about ut.

Oh well

Yep, Craigslist, its had been listed on there for awhile (and I ignored it), but it kept dropping in price, finally decided to buy it as I didnt need another project, but one of my favorite games growing up.

The seller's garage was fully of games he was selling (mostly newer games), not sure if he bought a lot from an auction, etc.

Same seller has the Xybots on CL, maybe some other games currently (look for ads from St Charles), could probably negotiate on price.

Yeah, I am guessing their products of the last super auctions. The issues you listed with your Super Hang On match the one at the last super auctions to a T.

I had a chance to pick one up very cheap as well like 6 months ago... I just don't have anymore room. I'm actually worried that my games wont fit in my gameroom when I move into my house in a couple of weeks... :(

I see them pop up on Craigslist with fair regularity in the $100 range, sometimes even working perfectly, which is surprising since it's such a cool cab and overall fun game.

Researching missing/broken parts on this game.

Brake cable is missing, but looks like arcadefixit.com sells a brake cable.

The supercharger/turbo button is broken (square button on left handlebar, pushed with left thumb), anyone know a source for these and if this button lights up?

Yeah. They really aren't worth a whole lot. I picked mine up on an impulse while getting a different cab. I never played it and it didn't get any play when I had arcade parties. I just donated it to the Galloping Ghost Arcade. It was clean inside and out with a fully rebuilt K7000. I figured it would best be used there so I just gave it to them. Good luck fixing yours up OP.

Started taking apart the handlebars to clean it up and re-paint and check all the POTs, fix the brake cable, figure out accelerator issue, etc.

Figured out why accelerator was stuck on, seems these things have some sort of tension screw that tries to keep the accelerator from rotating.

Over time it dug a groove into the metal.

I'm wondering if I can fix this with JB Weld (see picture)

Amazing what windex, a cap kit, and color adjustments will do for a monitor (K7000).

Tore down, cleaned and repainted the handlebars, installed new brake cable, checked the pots, re-adjusted pot game calibration, replaced coin door bulbs.

Need to find some grips so I can put the handlebar assembly back together fully.

Plays fine now, need to figure out why handlebar lights and the shaker motor arent working (no voltage at the lamp sockets). Shaker motor works if I connect 12v to just the motor, but not in game.

Vibrating motor and handlebar lamps are now working.

Had to replace a blown fuse that powered that part of the circuit.

Changed out a corroded fuse block while I was in that area of the game, re-connected all the cabinet grounds (not only was the ground plug missing, someone disconnected all the grounds between the control panel, coin door, etc.)

Found out that two of the connectors for the handlebars were swapped (not by me, as I labeled matching sets before disassembling).

It wasnt until I saw the motor twitching instead of spinning that I realized something with the wiring wasnt right. At first I thought I had A/C noise through the 12v wiring, but after looking through the manual/schematics, found that the handlebar lamps run on 10v A/C and the vibrating motor is 12v DC and they both have the same exact connectors. Swapped them around, and lamps and motor work fine now.
