So heres this dead Hang-On I picked up for $50. Had issues with the boardset and monitor. I dug into the boardset first and thought I'd be investing in a new one. I tried reseating all the chips with little hope, but was suprised to hear all the normal game sounds after doing so. At this point the monitor is still dead so I'm not completely sure the boardset is fixed yet...
So now I had to tackle the monitor. It turns out to be a Nanao 100v model and it looks like the flyback is shot. A replacement costs $80, ouch. So I figured I'd try this spare WG4900 working monitor I had laying around. Only problem was it was in a vertical frame and wouldnt fit in the cab. Luckily I also had an extra horizontal frame laying around and some lumber and was able to make a proper frame that would fit. Heres how that went...
Yeah, Alpine Ski burn, oh well. No worse than the heavy burn the Nanao had. Heres whats left of it...
So I mounted it in the cab and was originally thinking the 100v supply would be too low for this monitor. But I tried it anyway and heres the result...
The game now works 100%, and so far I don't have a dime over $50 in it.
Now all it needs is a marquee lamp and a gauge printout. This has got to be one of the cheapest games I ever bought.
