What a $40 mystery game looks like

Yes it's a Silkworm. Where are all these supposed steals that I've been grabbing up? I believe I've only bought 2 vids this year, including this one!

So I responded to an ad for an arcade game for $40 that has a "totally rebuilt monitor" and the game works good. He didn't know the name of the game and couldn't tell without turning it on but it wasn't near an outlet. But it's "some kind of game where you can drive a jeep or fly an airplane".

I told him I'd take it.

He said he had 15 responses in about 10 minutes before he pulled the ad. He's located in Hercules.

Any predictions?
It's SILK WORM by Tecmo.
I will sell you the PCB and Marquee for $30. Save yourself 10 bucks!

no pics?

I don't care for Silkworm but was the monitor any good?

Yeah I predict I said I would take it about 2min after he posted and somehow he resonded to you first. Seriously how are you stealing all the games in the east bay.

Jedi mind trick.

I'll post pics a bit later since I have to go to a meeting even though I apparently never work. :)

It's a rather unconventional cabinet for a Silkworm in any case.

It's using the lower portion of a Food Fight overlay!

It's an interesting cabinet, just the same. Rather surprising that the United Artists movie theatre logo marquee is still in place and it wasn't replaced by an actual Silkworm marquee.

Kyle

OOps.....Forgot to help you move that nice Tapper back were it goes:) (last picture) It was a pleasure to meet you and your wife John, thanks again! My girls are enjoying the new game.

That's a UA cabinet. It's a generic cabinet that housed mostly JAMMA games and were operated within United Artists theaters during the 80s and early 90s. I believe Konami had their hands in this but not sure.

The control panel is actually a drawer that slides out. I had a UA cabinet that came with four other drawers, all different games. The section where it says United Artists would usually have the marquee there, thus allowing the drawer to be self contained. Since all the games were JAMMA, it was just plug in, lock the hasps and start earning $$.

Mine was blue, but i believe they had red and possibly another color. fugly cabinet at best.

Funny about the FF overlay...that's pure blasphemy.

And John, we all know you're just going to a meeting where you're on the executive board. It's okay, really it is.... but from now on your new name will be Jehuie Lee

What kind of cabinet is that, and why is the coin meter in the control panel?

Why kind of monitor does it have, and is it in good shape?

Interesting. My first thought was that it was a modified Red Baron but it's clearly not. Never new that about UA cabs. Anyway, don't know why the coin meter is there or what brand the monitor is yet. But it works really good.

I actually bought it hoping to use the monitor as a donor for another game.

The coin meter is a custom job... points for originality but that's where it stops. The UA cab is the best example of how ugly a cabinet can truly be, but I'm sure the designer of it would disagree. Somewhere, an engineer sits proudly relishing his involvement in creating that abomination.

Here's Konami's Badlands in a UA cabby.... marinate in its fugliness...racing stripes to boot. ooooooooh sexy.

If anyone is interested, here's some pics with the drawer pulled out and how stuff looks inside.

Hey, I'm supposed to be trying to sell this thing next week for $300 remember? Help a guy out!

Galaga.

Oh, wait. tl;dr.

Huh? :(

It's a Hantarex monitor. Don't know the exact model since the cab doesn't allow you to get to the back of the monitor without taking it out first. Maybe someone here can help me out. Some screen burn...not sure what game. Are these decent monitors? I was hoping it would be a WG or, better yet, a G07.
