What’s the most obscure game you own

You may want to look at this thread. It may provide an option to use a LCD (as much as I hate to suggest that).

These are for raster games though.

When i brought Dyger home, i was listening to "Holy Diver"

🎵Holy Dyger
Rough around the edges but at least it's free
Oh you're coming home with me
No not Rygar
It's a pretty rare shooter in a dynamo cab
And yes I know what I have
Gonna play a game, holy Dyger, yeah 🎶

And yes i got it for free

The video output on that game sucks, Funspot had a hell of a time trying to get it to work with a normal monitor.

Yes. I had good intentions to do a restore thread on this but it got way too involved the last few months that if I tried to document it all it probably would've took a year, but I'll try to summarize here (long story short) for the sake of preservation. It was completely dead, did nothing at all on power up (fuses were all blown). The G02 monitor in it looked 'OK' because the tube wasn't cracked but it ended up being necked right at the seal and it had nothing left. I learned this 'after' the fact. I should've tested it first with B&K but it looked just fine. I ended up rebuilding the chassis 100%, got to the point where no fuses were blowing and then it basically passed and proceeded to arch and basically implode, smoke everywhere at the neck/tube. The chassis is still good! and I'm still alive LOL.

I rebuilt the power supply, had a '25 tube in storage, thought it was a K7000, but it ended up being a Hantarex Polo because the yoke connectors matched up, so I found a Polo chassis to match that, transplanted it into frame but then it took out 1/2 the neckboard when powered up because even though the tube was good, it must have sat too long in storage and who knows how long it sat before me and it was dirty! so fool me twice now lesson learned.
I ended up cleaning & balancing it with the rejuvenator, rebuilding the neck board back up (bad transistor on Blue and resistors), wiring up an RGB board from a Gorf (special thanks to past KLOV forum searches), got it to work but it inherentlly has this archaic component video tech that's not the same as today and it appears that Midway themselves made little tweaks to the hardware so that it could display right and the way they wanted it to be since it was one of 1st 25" color monitors that was used in an arcade game, so..

The fun part started with dialing it in and getting the colors to match up right which was proving itself to be impossible and then I had to flip the yoke wires to get it to orient properly against the 1/2 mirror effect inside the cab from the glass and the scopes. It wasn't until I used a @CraftyMech TPG, modified the RGB board with 1k ohm pots (thanks @gamefixer) as variable resistors and then just tweaked it for an hour that I got it close.

This came all way from MA to CA, was at one time in service at an arcade there (Joe's Playland), they must have done a few operator quick fixes at one time to one of the scopes after a welded pin broke off so I had to remove both stops that were nailed in, rebuild the scope, and used the piece off another donor scope to correct it and let's not get into the board.. 1/2 the roms chips were bad, a flakey custom, etc. etc. (thanks @Arcadedoc524).

Even the twist in sockets for the lights are a custom size they don't make anymore, I tried 3 different ones and they did fit or the tabs didn't extend far enough to make connection with the traces on the board correctly, I had to sand 1 by one (all 20 of them) on in a vice with a dremel and carbide sanding bit to take off enough for the closest match to fit, used a little dielectic grease and now they're like new. It was definitely one of the most challenging reconditioning efforts I ever took on and it wasn't without some nice help from some others or else it couldn't have been possible.

I would guess that out of the 18 that are listed here on KLOV, there's more than a few that don't work and maybe just a handful 100% so I'll cherish it.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it as it was certainly 'saved' for this lifetime anyways and as an homage to my Atari 1200xl days, I hooked up a jingle that plays from the 8-bit version of the game when you power it on and you can press again to hear the sample of it at anytime since it was one of my favorite games on the computer growing up. You can hear it at the beginning of the video below if you remember it.

Peace. Thanks for reading the book! :)

I guess it would probably be the EPOS games. Specifically, have not seen too many Revenger '84 boards out there. These all run dedicated Tristar PCBs but glob and EEEKK! also have pac boards with daughter cards.

I also have one of the 42 entertainment made space paranoid cabinets. Don't have the original computer for it though.
