(dont) = DON'T !!!!!!!!!!!
Not going back through his posts but I'm pretty sure at some point he posted a pic of his set up and the black wire that is supposed to be connected to the neck board had a stripped end instead of a connector.Where is this black wire? Can you trace it to some source? Pic plz...kthx
Yes what do I do with that wire TexNot going back through his posts but I'm pretty sure at some point he posted a pic of his set up and the black wire that is supposed to be connected to the neck board had a stripped end instead of a connector.
I get what you're saying and agree, but it begs the question: could that hypothetical person make any sense of this thread to begin with? Anybody that could piece together this conversation after the fact would have (ProfessorSmartBrain™ energy) x (infinity+1) and would already know not to do that.(dont) = DON'T !!!!!!!!!!!
In all seriousness, this should never be suggested. Someone seriously inexperienced could see this and try it.

Thank you mecha. The black stripped wire I have should go to the neck board then.I don't know anything about Bestech monitors. I try very actively to not deal with the equivalent to off-brand junk.
but on any CRT monitor there will be some variety of CRT ground connection coming from the strap around the 4 ear corners of the tube running to the neckboard. on a K7000 there will be 2 black wires coming off the neckboard (they also very commonly will get frayed from bending around 800,000 times over the course of 30+ years and I strongly encourage removing them, cutting the existing stripped ends off, strip both wires, and solder them back to the ground pad thoroughly). one of these ground wires will run to the heatsink wall of the deflection board, the other is what will connect to the ground strap on the tube. once connected you should be able to verify it's connected by using the meter with diode check/continuity beep and touching one probe to the ground pad of the neckboard/then heatsink wall, and the other end to the monitor frame.
the Bestech may have a similar arrangement or it may have a CRT ground wire with a plug end that plugs into the neckboard. I don't know, I've never dealt with those.
but all the same you should never run a CRT monitor without this ground connection. it will cause arcs.
ok, I just gave you another free tip when I declared I have no interest in helping you. I'm not even really doing it for you, I'm doing it for any other potential greenhorns that find your threads amusing in the hopes they might learn from my words. if we were in the 20 years ago timeline I would've run you off this site weeks ago because your existence isn't beneficial to anyone.
That's the gamble and it assumes they read the whole thread, not just one or two post. Further, Google will index that image so it can be shown in a not related to KLOV search. The soldering iron demo pics are a great example.I get what you're saying and agree, but it begs the question: could that hypothetical person make any sense of this thread to begin with? The show is over guys. I got my answer. Enough poking fun.
