EDIT: It is a k7500 and after talking to Dok we are thinking it is the white wire from the FB. So time to play around!

Ok this monitor is in my Gauntlet DL. When the cabinet is in one place I can set it so that the screen is perfectly clear, but when I move it the focus goes out again. It gets clearer over time, but the words and stuff are still very blurry. I think this is a 25" BTW>

The thing has a brand new cap kit on it done by a guy that does monitors all he time.

Anyone know what is going on with this thing?

Sounds like it. A bad connection to the neck socket would cause blurriness. A bent or broken pin would cause focus that starts to blur then snaps back only to blur again.

Could be the sign of a failing flyback, too...

Hello, . drifting focus / screen is very likely from a bad multiplier circuit on your flyback. also could be leakage between the windings.
you will need a new flyback.
Im starting to see more & more k7500's do this now.

In general, the flyback can be going bad internally causing the focus voltage to flucuate. Sometimes the focus pot built into the flyback goes bad (which means replacing the flyback anyway).

Sometimes the focus voltage wire has a poor connection inside the CRT socket on the neckboard. This is usually due to bad solder joints in the style of socket that uses a soldered wire connection and not the pressure fit type.

This one had the pressure pin setup inside the white box on the neck board. Pulled the white wire out, clipped, restripped, shoved it back in, and then focused everything back in and BAM perfecto!
