I have a few 7400 chassis' in the garage where I work. I also have a couple 7500's. at first glance they look almost identical. How difficult is it to add/replace what is needed to make a 7400 a 7500? and if possible, how practical is it? or would I just be better off to get a replacement 7500 chassis on ebay for $10 to $20 and repair as needed?

not interchangeable at all.

7400 std res different yoke different parts.
7500 med res different yoke different parts.

tubes are the same. that it the only similarity between them.

why not fix what you already have unless you don't have enough chassis to go around.

I'll expand on what Buffet mentioned.

The K7400 and K7500 do use the same board (as does the U5000), but with different parts in certain places. Sometimes they use the same part, but in different places. Theoretically it should be possible to convert one to the other if you had all the different parts, but the time and cost would be equal to or more than the cost of buying a broken one and attempting to fix it.

And that doesn't even take into account the trouble you'd go through trying to find a good K7500 yoke. not to mention that there are two versions of the k7500 - the 7501 and 7502 - and that they use different yokes...
