5 or 6 yrs ago, I bought a dead Space Duel in Jackson, MS, for parts. The cabinet was toast and the parts have saved other games.

This WG6100, I'm rebuilding to put in my Star Wars. It looks like all original caps and like very little work has been done on it.

I've never seen one with this extra PCB on the deflection board. Can someone fill me in?

Also, I've got the Bob cap kit, addit parts kit, and an old LV kit around here somewhere. How should I proceed, with respect to the old mod?

Thanks in advance for any info!
Joey

..reading the FAQ now. I suppose this is the Input Protection Circuit? First one of these I've seen.

Looks like I just need to replace the caps on that board?

Thanks..

Maybe, I've seen some 6100 issues where I've found some transistors on there shorted. If the monitor basically works, then a recapping would work.

Usually see these installed on the P314's. You could remove it if you repopulated the area that it's replacing...

It's the Atari version of the LV upgrade, I've always removed them. You'll need to repopulate a few components from that board back to the deflection board. Then I put in a new style LV upgrade. They are perfectly fine to leave in, and I've actually seen them used in conjunction with the new style LV upgrade.

Yup, input protection board. I've never seen them do any good though.

On or off, the monitor will still blow up if the input goes out of whack.

That board is there to prevent damage to the monitor if the pcb stops sending input or if the pcb locks up. The lvxx00 upgrade prevents hi voltage and low voltage from combining on the deflection board. The board was a add on that led to the development of the 327 deflection board.
